==Personal History==
Eryka's parents were from the south — she doesn’t know which city, but her father was a town guardsman there. He slipped off a rooftop chasing a gang of thieves and broke his neck when she was six. Her mother moved up here to live with her grandfather not long after her father's funeral, but she caught winter fever the next year. Her grandfather is still going strong, and seems to have a strong immune system.

Eryka started training two years after that under Brother Sanders. She hadn't really considered why though — her grandfather just introduced her to Sanders, said he’d known him for years and he’d teach her to defend herself. She picked it up pretty easily — enough so that he offered to train her as a paladin two years later, which she agreed to. She agreed not for any traumatic event or zealous sense of justice, but because she thought paladins were ''"fuckin' awesome"''. That and she felt she needed to develop a skill.

More recently, three of the townsfolk were gathering herbs for cooking, medicine etc.. The forest wasn't as safe as it used to be, so Eryka agreed to go along as extra security. She anticipated having to deal with a wolf or two, bandits at worst. Unfortunately, [[Kasyrra]] emerged from the forest, talking about how "delicious" they all look. Despite being terrified of the ungodly being before her, Eryka managed to yell for the villagers to run while she stalled the demoness. In retrospect, Eryka feels like Kasyrra let them run, as she saw just enough of her dark power while in the confrontation to know she was toying with her, and could have defeated her at any moment. Kasyrra threatened to take her soul, and magically gave her a penis, and Eryka dropped her sword and fled into the forest, climbed a tree, and hid for hours. She prayed to Velun, Lumia, and anyone who'd listen, and wasn't found. She went back, retrieved her sword and tried to go back to [[Hawkethorne]], but kept getting lost, and was running out of rations, when the Player Character found her.

Once back in the hamlet, she researches as much as she can on demons and how to vanquish them, and considers ways of recruiting some of the townsfolk to volunteer, as she believes she and Sanders could start to train a few more paladins so as to be better prepared to defend themselves from demonic attack.

The Champion asks her what she needs help with, and she responds with enchanting spearheads--and adds that if the Champion does a good enough job, she might even reward them. When the Champion asks for specifics, she pauses, apologizes, and explains that she's been overworked since the centaurs started going crazy, and she's gotten so that she assumes that everyone knows how her forge works: she crafts with passion.

Emotion, she explains, is a powerful force, and she finds the peak of desire best for crafting strong bonds. Rage or another powerful feeling would also suffice, but she prefers to have fun while she works.

She and two other hunters in Jassira went hunting in the [[Gaovod Mountains]], and, unfortunately, they woke the wyrm up before they even realized they were on it. The wyrm split her leg with its serrated tongue, although she didn't notice the injury until she'd already fired arrows into both its eyes. Despite her injury, her hunting party was able to kill it, and one of the hunters was a healer and helped her, although, she says, the extent of the damage did almost make him throw up. Viviane explains that the foundations of enchanting are twofold: intentionality, and the application of willpower to spirit, which she calls essence, but is called "ki" in Kitsuhon.

An enchanter can apply their intention to dead spirits, like she does, which requires 1) that the spirit, in life, had some sort of affinity for the enchanter's end goal; and therefore, 2) a lot of specificity and research. In this approach, as long as the caster does their research, they can use spirits to bind effects to items, etc, long after those items' creation.

Zuzaan, on the other hand, applies her intention to the essence of currently-living things: primarily, herself. To use one's own essence requires an abundance of it, Viviane explains, usually acquired from having lived a particularly interesting life. Zuzaan amplifies her power through sex, which gives her another living energy source. Viviane says that she believes this practice--of accessing another living being's ki through sex--was brought to Belhar after the opening of Kitsuhon's borders, and became a standard of the Empire's magesmiths' approaches.

The effect of enchanting using living essences is twofold: 1) the participants are more tired by the process than the enchanter using dead spirits, but, 2) the result is either a stronger magical item, or an item made more quickly. Viviane says that supposedly many strong magical items were made in this manner by orgies at the College of Estelore, but to her knowledge, they have all been lost.

The process allows--since the essence is living, and mutable--the essence, or ki, to be applied to any item--as long as that item, like the living essence, is also mutable: it must be made ''during'' the act of applying the enchantment, as opposed to any time afterwards.

This means the requirements for magesmithing are particularly difficult: the magesmith must have an abundance of their own ki, be an expert in their craft, and have the physical and mental stamina to create while having sex. Zuzaan, of course, fits all those requirements.

They see a woman, whom they presume to be the chieftain propped up against a series of thick pillows with a book in her hands. She will blink in surprise at her new guest, and she sets down the book on her lap and hugs her chest for a moment before taking a deep, steadying breath. She stands and greets the Champion, introducing herself as Chieftain Atani, the Champion noting her weak and tired voice. She appraises them for a moment before she asks for their name. Once she has their name, she will then reveal that she is not the original chieftain of the village, it was her mother, however, she was stolen away by corrupted centaurs. She will shiver uncomfortably before she asks them to bring back her mother. The Champion is left with the following options:

The corrupted centaurs, however, now have such powerful pheromones that only the strongest marefolk warriors can stand against them, and then, usually only because they want to be on top.<p>

Atani ends by saying that she hasn't had a chance to spend time with them, other than briefly meeting the chieftain's daughter years ago.

The Champion returns to pick up Ahmri from their camp, who is excited to meet Atani, and returns. While the Champion and Ahmri find the Marefolk Village not hostile, the centaur princess gets many curious looks on their way to Atani's yurt. Once inside, Ahmri, nervous, stumbles through an introduction, apologizing for not getting to know Atani when they first met--because she was in the middle of a good book.<p>

Her stumbling words completely convince Atani that she's incorrupt, and the two bond over a love of reading and romance. They hug in order to stave off tears about their parents, and Atani tells Ahmri she can stay in the village as long as she needs, and help the Champion plan a way into the Centaur Village.

Atani acknowledges that they share similar names, but she prefers to be called Atani. Her mother uses a great big studded quarterstaff as a weapon, although it's not seen, Atani shows the Champion a training staff which is an eight foot stick of thick hefty-wood covered end-to-end in metallic studs, and states that it's similar to her mother's but her mother's is bigger and heavier.<p>

If the Champion and Atani have children, she adds that her mother loves being around kids and it makes her younger every time she sees them.

If it's the first time the Champion asks Atani about herself, she glances around nervously as admits that for the woman who's supposed to be in charge, she's terribly uninteresting. However she concedes from the Champion's level stare as she explains that she was born in the heart of summer, became of age two years ago, her mother was chieftain, and unfortunately her father who was also a mother had passed away, and it was quite a rare occurrence or was back in the day. She has never had a partner and was supposed to be married to the centaurs, however, that was 'cancelled'. She's now the acting chieftain, loves sugary fruits, and curling up in furs and napping. She's known her guards Edessari and Wredi ever since she was a tiny thing. She takes a deep breath and apologizes that she's not good with small talk, so she tries and does it all at once. It's the Champion's turn to talk as they regale her with their own tales and history, and by the time they're out of topics, Atani is practically beaming. The Champion will thank her for the great conversation and promises to do their best to keep her company in the future, to which Atani says she'd love the company whenever they're available.

Once the Champion is ready, Ahmri, Atani, and her two guards formulate a plan using a map and clay figures on how to fight the centaur. Ahmri chips in that the marefolk don't have to fight the centaurs, they simply need to distract them long enough for the Champion to get into the village and deal with the source of the corruption. One the guards boasts that their hunters and foragers have eluded the centaurs for centuries, one venture won't be difficult. The Champion asks her guards if they're going to be protecting Atani and Ahmri while they go to the village. Ahmri interjects by stating that they're not leaving her behind as she's the only one who knows the paths that lead to the village rather than sheer falls and steep cliffs. She reassures the Champion that she's been learning from [[Kavi]] on a little bit about magic and that she can make her symbol of [[Lumia]] glow real bright. Once everyone is in agreement, the Champion and Ahmri depart to the centaur village.

Once the quest has been cleared ''(regardless of the outcome)'', the Champion escorts the ex-chieftain [[Naiyana]] back to the marefolk village. Once they reach the village, Atani rushes towards her mother with an expression of pure, child-like delight. Naiyana, uncaring of her new breeding mare-figure, steps up and catches her daughter in a hug, unfortunately, it's short-lived when Naiyana's cock shoots up to full mast at the merest contact of a body. Atani is quite shocked and asks what happened to her mother, but Naiyana brushes it aside stating that it's something they can talk about later, and for now she's just glad to be home. The two embrace once more as Atani sobs into her mother's neck. After a few minutes, Edessari and Wredi approach them with a blanket and a large mug of tea. Wredi softly expresses her relief that Naiyana has come home, although Naiyana's scent causes both guards to throb awkwardly at full mast. Once the Champion has reached >= 80 relationship score, cuddled and has had sex with her at least once, and has rescued her mother by completing [[Harboring a Fugitive]], Atani will confess her feelings towards the Champion.

Upon visiting Atani, the Champion notes that they can feel something special in the air and they see that she seems quite nervous. This nervousness changes as soon as she sees the Champion and her whole expression brightens. The Champion comments that she seems distracted and asks if she's alright. She says she has something important to tell them but first she asks for a hug, to which the Champion gives. After the hug, she shuffles awkwardly and takes a deep breath before telling them she loves them. The Champion will blink in surprise and say they already knew. Her blush deepens and she hugs her body as she states:

As the pair continue to sweet talk, the Champion will ask how will their marriage work. Atani will reply with embarrassment that the Champion would have to ask her mommy for permission and that they don't have a priest or priestess to officiate their marriage. The only problem would be asking her mother, since [[Cait]] would probably love to perform the ceremony. The two will part ways as the Champion will make their way to [[Naiyana]].

When the Champion leaves the tent, Edessari and Wredi stop the Champion as the pair thank them for making Atani happy, and should they need it, they could speak for them when they go see Naiyana. Wredi comments that Naiyana is definitely still feeling off after her capture and that something like this would really brighten her day.

Before the Champion can so much as say a word, they actually see Atani's heart plummet as she whispers for them not to say it. She takes a big gulp and bites her lip as she asks them to pretend she didn't say anything. The Champion will leave before the gloom can grow too intense and avoids looking at Edessari and Wredi as they glare at them.

Once the Champion has gotten Naiyana's approval, before the Champion can even set foot into Atani's tent, they're bowled over by an overjoyed Atani as she's aware that her mother approves of their marriage. All that's left would be finding a priest or priestess, and the Champion is sure that [[Cait]] would love to do it, as long as they promise to have lots of children. Atani will pull the Champion into a deep kiss and when their lips depart, she says that first things first would be putting a ring on the Champion. The Champion will quip about the ring being a sex joke, to which a deeply blushing Atani says that it's about the actual ring, although, if they play their cards right on the wedding night.

After the scene above, as soon as [[Cait]] is in the party or when the Champion returns to [[The Frost Hound]] when Cait is there, this scene will occur.

The Champion will approach Cait, which earns them a surprised yelp. When asked if she's alright, she relents and tries to brush it off, but she eventually says what she's been thinking about; if her boobs look nice when she jumps. The Champion goes into deep pondering on Cait's topic but she snaps them out of their thought process with a snap of her fingers as she asks what they wanted in the first place. They inform her that they're getting married to Atani and that her mother gave them the okay as well. This gets Cait super excited as she rambles on and asks if Atani's pregnant, are they going to have lots of kids; they'd all be so cute, and thinks on how big Atani's boobs are. It's the Champion's turn to slow her down as they state that marriage can happen whenever they get the chance, but they ask if Cait would like to officiate. As the Champion enters Atani's tent, they get a soft smile from Edessari and Wredi. The source of their good cheer is apparent when they are treated to a surprisingly deep and confident singing voice. The singing voice comes from Naiyana, whom is brushing her daughter's hair while Atani is sitting on a chair that replaces her usual resting furs. They both smile upon seeing the Champion and Atani asks if everything is ready. Before they can respond, Cait pops up from the Champion's side and is about the inform them about the ceremony, until her eyes meet Naiyana's thick swinging prick. She resumes by stating that everything is ready but before she leaves she whispers to the Champion to hook her up with their new mom-in-law. The Champion is shoo'd away from the tent as Naiyana wants more time with her special little girl before giving her away.

Upon stepping outside they find the village is in a flurry of motion as mares bring out chairs from their tents and homes, and if they have any companions with them, they are in the mix, helping out with preparations. When the Champion attempts the help, they are shoo'd away to a corner with a drink in their hand. After a short while, the ceremony is set, complete with a podium covered with flowers. Cait gives them some reassuring advice before Naiyana emerges from the tent with a bright smile on her face and escorting her daughter by her side. Once Atani has reached the Champion, Cait gives a martial speech before asking if the couple would like to make any oaths or affirmations. The Champion speaks first, swearing to love and cherish Atani and to protect her and their family. Atani on her part pulls out a shiny gold band from her cleavage and swears upon them to share everything, to be a part of the Champion's life, and a part of those that matter to them. She then places upon them a band, which is magical and with it she hopes that they all help the Champion as they have helped the marefolk. Most Marchers would consider the average foxen a little runty, but Kohaku is absolutely <i>tiny</i> at a mere four feet seven inches. Ever perky, expressive and alert to the slightest sound in her domain, they swivel to and fro with a life of their own, complementing their owner's extroverted demeanour. Their insides are a pale cream instead of the deep, rich gold of her hair and fur, the tufts sticking out from each ear just begging to be tweaked and tickled.

While there's clearly been some effort to try and get it in shape, Kohaku's hair simply won't obey her. It falls from her head in a glorious mess, framing her face almost all the way to her pointed chin and parting at her red, slitted eyes; behind her, it extends all the way to her curves of her pert, squeezable butt, threads of spun gold gleaming in the light. Even with how fastidious most kitsune are, you can see why Kohaku simply refuses to pin it up or get it into shape: it's wild and <i>fabulous</i>.

Not that her face is worth hiding, either. A pretty face is an asset in a merchant, and she's got the looks — wide eyes, a small nose, and perpetually cheery, upturned lips with little vulpine fangs that're visible when she does one of her trademark open-mouthed smiles. Around her shoulders, Kohaku wears a thick fur cape that fluffs up against her neck and reaches the small of her back; it's clearly more a fashion accessory than proof against the cold of the Marches. It's held in place by a golden clasp in the shape of a fox's head, the details exquisitely etched into the soft metal.

The rest of Kohaku's attire is strangely out of the norm for the rest of her kind. While there're definite cultural influences from the Old Country, her clothes would fit in more on the streets of Tychris or even the Winter City than here in a kitsune den. A simple cloth top holds back perky Bs, joined to a figure-hugging leather piece for her midriff, followed up by short skirts that wouldn't look out of place on Cait at all. The whole yellow-and-black ensemble is held together by red string; it's obvious that Kohaku's fashion sense is experimental, to say the least. Not that there's any naked thigh visible — black silken leggings hug her legs all the way to her high boots, and one gets the impression that the amount of thigh between the hem of her skirts and her boots has been very carefully calculated for maximum effect on anyone brave or lecherous enough to ogle.

If Kohaku's hair is a mess, her tails are immaculately groomed. Numbering four in total, they're fat, fluffy, and promise to be an absolute joy to touch and hold if you ever got the chance to do so. The same colour of spun gold as her hair from base to tip, they constantly flick and twitch in accordance with her energetic, extroverted nature, refusing to simply lie at rest.

Most importantly, though, is the pendant that hangs about Kohaku's neck by a thick gold chain. == History/Personality/Information of Note ==

Kohaku is a second-generation immigrant to the Frost Marches, the daughter of prospectors who hoped to strike it rich in new (well, by kitsune standards) lands that were supposedly full of valuable metals. However, these lands were also full of danger, which were no place for a young girl; without much recourse, they decided to house their daughter in what was arguably the safest place on the frontier while digging around. Over the next decade or so, Kohaku has done considerably better at finding metals than her parents, if by different means. Showing better skill than most with abacus and ledger, as well as wheedling things out of people, she was assigned by Matron Komari to take over the responsibility of the storehouse, whose previous keeper was finally moving back to the Old Country, having had enough of the colonies. This responsibility came with a warpstone shard, which allows her to use not just the den's <i>torii</i> gate to get to and from places quickly, but also to use the numerous waystone idols that are scattered across the Marches and beyond.

With a natural knack for negotiation, mimicry both physical and verbal, as well as disguise, it is Kohaku's job to infiltrate native settlements with her wagon and bodyguards (also appropriately disguised), do commerce with the natives for goods the den can't produce by itself, and ship those goods back home. It's also her job to prepare goods to and from the Old Country across the ocean, with similar results. She is the only one in the den with any reason to deal in Belharan electrum hawks, and thus is the only kitsune with any real use for the champion's money. By moving her and hers through the Ways Between, Kohaku is able to not just cut down on travel time and dangers, but also respond quickly to events, as well as easily ship goods that would be considered rare in several locales. Much of her business consists of sourcing iron ore, which the locals of the Marches consider a byproduct of copper and tin production and are only happy to see her cart off, and turning that around across the ocean in short order. The money and goods she handles aren't ''hers'' per se; she merely handles them on behalf of the den. If anyone owns the contents of the den's storehouse, it's Komari in her position of imperial governor.

Given her need to interact with the locals and mimic their habits as part of her job, Kohaku has adopted several of their habits and styles of dress for her own; she is the most westernised of the floofs, for lack of a better term to put it; her dress style is very Marches-esque, with a unique spin on traditional Old Country fashions. Of course, this draws an amount of derision from [[Nakano]], to whom this betrayal of her roots and culture is obviously expected of a merchant but still disappointing.

Kohaku is essentially the other facet of how second and so forth generations of immigrants deal with identity issues, adopting the mannerisms of the locals and trying to fit in, and the conflict that approach creates with both the people they're trying to fit in with and their own ethnic stock. Needing to relate to and get along with both disparate groups of people is pretty harsh emotional labour and can cause considerable dissonance in an individual, despite Kohaku's cheery attitude towards everything.

On a brighter note, Kohaku's big fluffy ears are a '''lot''' more sensitive and erogenous than those of other floofs. One of the reasons she has so much inner ear fluff is that she doesn't dare to trim it because it's so embarrassing to do so. Having ear fluff that's so unkempt and packed into cotton-like balls is a little embarrassing, but some people find it cute. She also enjoys taiyaki, having learned how to make it from her parents, and when not actively mimicking someone else, tends to end her sentences with "jya" or "nojya" as a verbal tic, even while speaking Belharan. She is also an incorrigible gossip; the best way to let everyone in the den know anything is to tell it to her and let her charisma do its work.

Like almost all other kitsune NPCs, Kohaku will recognise if the player is one of her own and change her attitude towards them accordingly.

==Interactions==

The den storehouse is open from 0700 to 1700 hours every day, during which the champion may walk in and purchase items from her. Because it is surplus stock, everything is marked down to 75% of its cost. Because it is surplus stock, everything Kohaku sells is randomised from a pool which refreshes every day. She can sell items which would not be normally for sale, and when the champion walks into the storehouse for the first time every day, there is a small chance of a one-time offer of a rare item which is also drawn from another randomised pool. If such an offer comes up, the champion must decide on the spot whether to buy it or not.

Kohaku's inventory is drawn from a pool and consists of 4 consumable items, 3 equipment items, 5 transformatives and 1 tome. Her inventory refreshes every day.

Shameless players may also bribe the small fox with 3 metal bits to immediately reroll her offered items in stock without needing to wait for the next morning. The chance of rare items is not rerolled.

While crossing the ice shelf, the Champion feels a sensation of unease, but they spot no signs of danger. Suddenly, the ice beneath them starts to rumble and they attempt to make run for it, when a trio of figures bores through the ice and explodes from the ocean. If the Champion is an Elf, one of the women tells them to get out, that this is their first and last warning as they won't be merciful next time. They add that the elves are no longer wanted in the rift, and that they have all suffered from the lies the elves and their [[Lumia|goddess]] has brought them. The Champion states that they cannot do that, as the [[Demon Cult]] is present within the rift, however, this earns them a smile, as if the women were itching for an excuse to fight.

Else, if the Champion is not an Elf, one of the women will warn them to turn back for their own safety, as conflict is coming to the rift. The Champion states that they cannot, as they have been pursuing the Demon Cult. If [[Etheryn]] is present, one of the women sneers, questioning that if the Champion is in the rift to stop the corruption, what are they doing with an elf. Etheryn states that she's perfectly fine, however, they interject, claiming that the reek of elven corruption clings on her, as it does with all of her kind. The Champion attempts to explain that the corruption comes from the cult and not the elves, but they are ignored as they advance menacingly towards Etheryn. If Etheryn is not present, the seal-women show concern for the Champion as they state that they almost mistook them for an elf. The Champion states that they're on an important errand and asks if they have seen any people in black hoods around. The selkies talk amongst themselves for a short while, before stating that they're all over the place, that they're nice people, and once they're finished with what they're doing, the black-hooded people might be interested in helping the people of the rift in chasing away the elves. The Champion attempts to correct the misinformation about the cult, however, one of the selkies whispers something to her partners, and their friendly demeanor vanishes as one of them states that the Champion smells of the elf city. The Champion confirms the fact, which causes the selkies to accuse them of being a spy.

Regardless of it all, the seal-women have their bone javelins at the ready, and a fight begins - the [[Selkies]] codex entry will also be unlocked.

If the Champion is defeated, if the Champion is an elf; the selkies will debase and insult them for being an elf, if not and Etheryn is present; they will debase and insult her instead, if she's not present; the selkies will debase and insult them for being an elf-friend. ''(see defeat sex scenes)

Defeating the selkies will have the selkies be laid limp on the ice, the fight knocked out of them. If [[Arona]] is present, she will start groping the Songstress, commenting that she's always heard stories about them washing up on the shores of the [[Sailgraves]], but she never managed to find one herself, and adds in that hanging out with the Champion sure has its perks. Interrogating the selkies will have the Champion question the Songstress on the rift's grudge against the pale elves, and the offer the black-hooded people made. The Songstress explains that the elves have been throwing horrible things into the water, causing the ice to melt and warming the water, which attracts horrible things from the trenches of the sea. The sprits of the ice, glaciers, and ocean are waking up and speaking to them in their dreams; that they must go into the elven keep and drive them out, and that they must do it together with the jotuns, avanai, and siorcs. The Champion ponders that although [[Kasyrra]] is capable of such things on an individual scale, it's not within her power nor her personality to do so. Moving on, she talks about the cult, who offered their help to fight the elves once they're done with whatever it is they are doing. The selkies first met the cult when they became curious in a giant squid the selkies had brought in, to which the selkies showed them where it came from, and in return, the cult gave them many nice things. The Champion notes that the cult were able to follow the selkies underwater, with no problem, to which the selkie replies that it was weird and a little scary that they could, since most land-dwellers would drown or freeze, but since they were given stuff, the selkies did not dwell on it. The cult stated that they would stop the giant squids and other bad things from coming out of the trenches, and once they were done, they would think of helping the selkies with their elven problem. The Champion begins to dwell on the facts, pondering that cult took advantage of the selkies' good-nature and hired them as scouts, that they're interested in the deep-sea monsters, and went down into the ocean trenches without any problems. If [[Quintillus]] is present, he will state that this isn't something the cult would be able to do before, as most of its rank and file didn't know how to do any actual magic back then. He formulates that [[Master Tollus]] is the most likely suspect, as he would be motivated enough to learn, borrow, or steal whatever power if it meant he had something to gain. Whatever the case may be, they have got to figure out what he is up to.

Subsequent encounters with the selkies will have the Champion feel an ominous rumble beneath the ice, and knowing what to expect, they ready their weapons as a trio of selkies burst from the ice with their weapons at the ready. In chorus, the selkies chant for the Champion to go away, that they are not welcome in the rift. If [[Cait]], [[Etheryn]], [[Arona]], or [[Quintillus]] is present, they make a comment on the selkies before a fight ''(only one will comment and based on who was mentioned first)'' begins.
