-Etheryn is a mandatory companion for the mission and Elthara will be a guest companion, so you can only take one extra companion. If you have two companions while trying to start the quest and neither is Etheryn, the game will open the 'change party' menu to allow you to pick who you want to bring. Defeating Archdruid Xadaron with banishment will lead to them being banished by you, otherwise Ryn will finish them off. It is unknown if this makes any difference in the rest of the quest.  Afterwards the ground will shift and the party will fall to lower levels of the dungeon.
