Over Troubled Water is a side quest given by Varena, the Crown Princess of Khor'minos after the events of A Feast for Heroes. To access the quest, the Champion must have flirted with or complimented Varena when talking to her at the feast.

Phase 1

Spoilers

Varena asks the Champion to find a red labrys. The labrys' location is random; the Champion must read each tile to find it.

Upon staking out the correct location, the group will find and capture the spy, who will refuse to give up their employer. The Champion is presented with 3 options to gain further insight

  • Observe
  • Persuade
  • Intimidate

If the player intimidates the spy, Varena will express distaste with the champion's methods. In all cases, the spy will be remitted to the custody of Raqian, but if the Champion chooses Persuade, Varena will order a writ of emancipation for them.

Following this, the champion is given the option of helping Varena distribute the contents of her cargo to the people of Khor'minos.

Phase 2

Now that the Champion and Varena know who is responsible for spying on her, meeting the princess in the taphouse once more initiates phase 2.

Varena directs the champion to ask Livrea for information on the culprits. Livrea initially asks for money but when she sees Varena she tells them where to find the culprit's son. He is found directly east of the outskirts side of the city entrance, requiring the Champion to bypass the guard.

The house the Champion ends up at shows signs of loud sex occurring within. Three options are available.

  • Knock
  • Peek in the window
  • Sneak in the back

Knocking accomplishes nothing, but peeking in the window or sneaking in the back will both trigger an attack by an incensed Ramien.

If the champion wins the fight, Ramien's girlfriend asks you what is going on. If the champion loses the fight, she strikes him over the head and he crumples. In either case, a conversation ensues.
