Forest Kitsune
The Forest Kitsune are a group of three kitsune bandits stuck within the Old Forest due to the Alraune occupying the only passage to Frostwood.
Appearances
You've been waylaid by a trio of kitsune wildlings — gold, amber and black alike, intent on robbing you of your food. Lithe, ragged and looking slightly undernourished, each of them wear stony expressions and hard gazes, intent on their grim purpose now that they've committed themselves to their banditry.`
Interactions
The Champion must be at least level 2 to encounter the kitsune bandits. The Forest Kitsune will be first encountered by the Champion in the Old Forest where they will first ambush the Champion, Hinata will apologize for their actions but they require what the Champion has. Unlike the usual bandits or thieves, these kitsune demand not gold but food to fill their hungry stomachs. If supplies are not available there exist 'alternatives' of which can sate the needs of the kitsune if the Champion is willing. The following options are what the Champion can do in response to the demands of the kitsune bandits:
- Help - Despite the way they're asking, you can understand there's someone in need here.
- Refuse - You're not giving up anything of yours! Fight them!
If the Champion were to refuse to help the bandits, they will move on to aggressive negotiations (combat encounter), this will also make subsequent encounter with the trio as hostile so long as they are within the Old Forest. If the Champion is victorious in combat, the kitsune will make a swift retreat before the Champion can do anything to them. However if the Champion were to be defeated, they will rob the Champion of Trail Rations or Camping Supplies. If the Champion does not, a random chance will play for any of the three kitsune to personally drain the Champion (resulting in a Drained effect).
If the Champion were to help them, they may offer the Kitsune a few options:
- Share Food - Give the hungry kitsune a portion of your provisions. This will consume one camping supplies. (requires having either Trail Rations or Camping Supplies)
- Share Essence - Rather than give up any of your provisions, feed the kitsune trio in a more... direct, if pleasurable, manner.
If the Champion chose to share with them food, Hinata will express his gratitude with a deep bow and will ask for the Champion's name. Due to circumstances, after the Yuzu and Kiri finish stowing away the supplies, Hinata will tell the Champion of their current situation and will offer to speak on more peaceful terms the next they meet and then they disappear into the undergrowth.
If the Champion were to share to the kitsune their essence, they will humbly thank the Champion for the food as they take turns to drain the Champion of their vitality albeit not as violently as if they were to be defeated by the kitsune in combat. Once the feeding has ended, the Champion will receive the Enervation effect and Hinata will invite the Champion to their camp.
Whether or not the Champion shared food or essence with the kitsune, they will be able to visit their camp at the south-west during the night (20:00 - 5:59). If the Champion were to visit the kitsune during the night, they will be able to get to know and interact with them. The following options will become available:
- Chat - See if you can't figure out what the situation in the Old Forest is.
- Home - Why can't they return home?
- Forest - What've they managed to observe in the Old Forest so far?
- Kitsune - Can he tell you more about his people?
- Feeding - Deriving sustenance off other people... isn't it disturbing?
- Bridge - So, the bridge needs clearing, does it?
- Orb - Show Hinata the amber orb in its amulet and ask if he knows anything about it. He's a kitsune, after all. (requires having the Amulet of Transference or Amulet of Union equipped or in the inventory)
- Feed - Share some of your provisions with the fox-people. (requires having either Trail Rations or Camping Supplies)
- "Feed" - (share your essence with the kitsune)
Talking to the kitsune will reveal that they haven't been stuck within the Old Forest for weeks, having been unable to return back to Frostwood due to the Alraune occupying the only safe passage to it. They have been unable to return home for sometime, the supplies they had brought with them have all been depleted thus were forced to scrounge for supplies and resort to banditry. If the Champion has the Amulet of Transference or Amulet of Union with them, they will be able to ask the kitsune more on it, however they have no knowledge of it but suggest that the matron of the Frostwood kistune den will be able to. If the Champion had not talked to the Alraune Effigies regarding their behavior, the kitsune will tell the Champion of the Alraune thus progressing In Her Footsteps.
Once the Champion has defeated the Alraune, the kitsune will be able to return home to Frostwood.
Sex
No direct sexing options will appear if the Champion were to be defeated or share their essence the first time they meet the kitsune, however sexing (tailjobs) from Kiri and Yuzu will occur when the Champion decides to "Feed" them at the camp (Cait and Atugia will have special interactions with the kitsune if they are present in the party).

Appearance
