Once you agree to help the fluff, he will take you toward his mistress' tower in hope of reasoning or, if push comes to shove, fighting her. Don't forget to play with the bookshelf before moving on towards the witch! A [[Spiraled Staff|special reward]] (or [[Spiraled Blade|another]]) awaits those who try to read. Past the bookshelf you may pilfer one more unique item, much to Berwyn's frustration. Finally, reaching the end of the tower, you shall find mistress Matiha, engrossed in her work. This doesn't last for long and, confronted with Berwyn's evidence, battle is inevitable. However, even in defeat she can still show her mastery of arts, vanishing with the crystal and soon the tower follows, leaving you to run for your lives.

Quest Description

  • When initially refusing to assist Berwyn

The half-lupine summoner you've had multiple battles with in the past has approached you with a plea of help. He mentioned something about his mistress and some sort of vague, dark plot, and needing your aid to stop her and whatever schemes she's up to. You've refused though, and the half-breed mage stomped off angrily at your unwillingness to help.

For all you know it could have been a trap, but at the same time, if what he said was true, there could be a terrible magician running amok unopposed. Perhaps the next time you meet him you could convince him to accept your help.`

  • While exploring the tower with Berywn

You've answered Berwyn's, a half-lupine summoner you've had battles with before, plea for assistance. He came to you looking for help to deal with his mistress, a powerful mage. The half-breed mentioned some vague, dark plot she's up to at first, but on the way to her tower, he explained that she's apparently planning to take over some neighboring towns, as well as the fact that she's in possession of some kind of dangerous artifact.

Once you arrived at the Mistress's fortress, Berwyn opened the enchanted gate with a rune and led you inside. Now all you have to do is deal with the lady of this tower.

  • Upon defeating Mistress Mathia but refusing to allow Berywn to join the Champion's cause

After exploring her tower, you did battle with Mistress Matiha alongside Berwyn. She was a powerful opponent, and you came face to face with the strange artifact your half-lupine ally mentioned: a runed stone that she seemed to be drawing power from. You were victorious against her though, but after she was defeated, the Mistress teleported away along with that magic stone of hers. After a fast escape from the tower, her whole fortress teleported away as well, much to Berwyn's surprise.

Lady Matiha mentioned that this wouldn't be the last time you saw her, and Berwyn requested to join you in order for you to help each other for whenever she comes back, since it seems the half-breed doesn't know when she'll reappear. You've refused his offer, and he mentioned making his way back to Hawkethorne to stay there. Maybe you could find him there if you change your mind about letting him join you.

  • Having recruited Berywn as a companion (marking an end for the quest)

After exploring her tower, you did battle with Mistress Matiha alongside Berwyn. She was a powerful opponent, and you came face to face with the strange artifact your half-lupine ally mentioned: a runed stone that she seemed to be drawing power from. You were victorious against her, but after she was defeated, the Mistress teleported away along with that magic stone of hers.

You accepted his offer, and now it seems you've gotten a new ally in the form of Berwyn, and his services and magical knowledge will be available to you if you need them.

Having completed the requirements, the Champion will encounter Berwyn randomly in the Foothills and he will ask for their help. The Champion can say Yes or No as their response. If the Champion had initially refused to help Berwyn, they may acquire the quest by defeating him in a regular encounter and choosing the Help? option.

Agreeing to help the mage will immediately transition the Champion towards the tower, in which Berywn will assist the Champion and their party. Berwyn will take the slot of a guest such that he does not replace any of the two Companions the Champion might have during the quest.

The Champion must choose between the Spiraled Blade or the Spiraled Staff for there is not enough liquid-ley crystal to infuse both. The Champion may also come across and acquire Berywn's Panties when searching the tower, much to the mage's annoyance.

At the top the top of the tower, the party will have to face Mistress Matiha. Upon her defeat the Mistress will teleport herself and in a few moments the entire tower itself, leaving the half-breed mage without a home. The Champion can choose accept Berywn as a companion or not. If the Champion had said no, Berywn can be recruited at anytime at The Frost Hound.
