[[Captain Steele]] can only see the pirate tech specialist after getting past the encounter with the [[Pirate_Mercenary|mercenary guard]] of the room prior. She is hostile and will engage Steele and [[Saendra]] in combat.

It is possible to avoid combat with her entirely by asking [[Saendra#Valeria|Valeria]] for help, and then getting the idea to over-load the computer on the other side with a '''Holo Burn'''. This path is only successful is Steele is a [[Tech Specialist|tech specialist]], however.
