What does it mean to be human?

Name (Singular): Human

Sexes: Male and female.

Height: Fully matured humans commonly range from five feet to just over six, though rare exceptions exist on both sides of the spectrum.

Weight: Adult humans commonly weigh between 140 and 180 pounds, with males being 20 to 30 pounds heavier than females on average.

Average Lifespan: Most humans have a natural lifespan between 80 and 90 years without the assistance of modern medicine, though particularly healthy humans may live upwards of a century.

Skin: Humans are covered in a soft, supple skin which is largely furless save for at the hair on the top of their head. Vestigial fur remains on their forearms and lower legs which is used for temperature regulation, though some humans may have this hair removed. Color variation of the skin ranges from a fair, peach-like tone to a very dark brown. Lighter shades of human skin will often become temporarily darker when exposed to sunlight.

Hair: Color varies, with brown, blond, and black as the three most common colors, though auburn and red hair also exist. Growth of pubic and facial hair are markers of age. As a human ages extensively, individual strands may grow white, making the hair appear grayish. Balding may result in some humans who have the genetic trait for it.

Eyes: Human eyes are circular, with a colored iris surrounding a black pupil that may dilate under dark conditions or when focusing on an object of interest, though this dilation is not especially pronounced relative to many other species. Naturally, blue, green, brown and hazel are the most common eye colors.

Ears: Human ears are mounted on either side of their head, having a largely ovoid shape. The organ is used for detecting sound and aiding with maintaining balance while moving. Human ears are compact compared to many other races, though their quality of hearing is quite good. The audible range for human ears is between 20 to 20,000 Hz on average.

Reproduction

Human reproduction normally takes a few minutes when done quickly, though many humans prefer to go for longer. While long-term sexual monogamy is common among humans, they're also known for being quite libidinous, and some members of the species may be as sexually forward as any ausar or even more so.

Human pregnancy generally lasts nine months and usually bears only one child at a time, though instances of multiple births are not uncommon, especially among the more fertile. Human infants can see at birth and mature to adulthood biologically at 10-12 years for females and 12-14 years for males, but recognized legally at 18 years of age. Though newborns consist of primarily females and males, there have been rare cases of natural hermaphrodites.

Combat

While lacking significant natural biological defenses compared to other species, humans have developed many styles of martial arts focused on bludgeoning blows from their arms and legs, which are remarkably effective. Humans have also developed and used a large array of weapons and armor technology throughout their history and continue to be very diverse in modern warfare. The sword is the most culturally iconic human weapon, and swords continue to be made today, from simple to elaborate metal blades, even to the more technologically-driven weaponry.

Environs Typically Inhabited

Humans are capable of colonizing a wide variety of environments, though the vast majority of the land-based species are preferably drawn to temperate or tropical climates with at least some atmospheric moisture. Terra itself displays both of these climates along with colder regions at the far north and south of the planet's axis.

Society

Human society on the galactic scale is somewhat fragmented. The largest and most well-known human society is the Terran-Space Coalition, consisting of the human homeworld and various member planets. However, despite the T.S.C.'s efforts to appear hegemonic, there are many other confederations and independent human-dominated worlds which are not a part of it.
