Kaede is a shy young freighter captain the PC meets through their mutual lover, Anno Dorna. While her appearance in Trials in Tainted Space is thus far just a cameo, she stars in a series of short stories and a comic set in the same universe as TiTS.

Kaede is a shy, introverted young woman who's currently employed as an independent cargo hauler aboard her ship, Talon Rogue. She was raised by a single parent, Tavros's chief mechanic Zeke Entara, with little involvement from her mother, Amara Faell -- who, unbeknownst to her, is a Black Void pirate. She attended Ausaril Tech, a prestigious university on the ausar homeworld, at the same time that Anno Dorna was working as a graduate assistant there. The two became lovers shortly after Anno started tutoring her, though the relationship came to an end after a little less than two years when Kaede was forced to drop out due to financial restraints. They've since gotten back together after a few years apart, shortly before Captain Steele met them.

Kaede's revealed to be a crack pilot during her adventures, able to push an outdated CassTech Lancer freighter to outmaneuver and eventually destroy a heavily armed pirate ship.

She was childhood friends with Cass, the kaithrit protagonist of The Treatment, before the eponymous drug escalated their relationship into a sexual one. Kaede also has had multiple run-ins with the famous kui-tan pirate Kiro Tamahime, always ending in very messy sex.

Kaede cannot currently be met via any means other than through her girlfriend, Anno. Once you've talked to Anno about Kaede, she'll start showing up either at Anno's shop or, if Anno's on your crew, at Anon's Bar & Grill up to once per week. Encountering her is very rare, but will always give the option to drag her and Anno into a threesome, or for the PC to enjoy a little voyeurism and watch the two of them make love.
