The shrine is hidden in the Deepwoods.

There are a few items left behind: a bookcase and a statue. Everything is covered with dust and whoever lived here has been gone for awhile.

There are three actions available

  • Read the books. Effect is random.
    • Raises Intelligence.
    • Lowers Corruption.
    • Raises Lust and Libido.
  • Meditate.
    • Lowers Corruption and Lust, raises Intelligence
    • If you meditate at the altar with a Fox Jewel in your inventory, you may gain a fox tail. If you already have a fox tail you will gain another one until you have nine, unlocking the Kitsune special attack perks.
    • Meditating only works if the Golden Statue is present.
  • Take the Golden Statue.

Notes

Apart from the Fox Jewels, there doesn't seem to be any connection between the shrine and the three forest kitsunes also found in the Deepwoods. It seems the shrine is a remnant of an earlier richer kitsune culture, forgotten by today's members of the race.

The chances of finding the Kitsune shrine seems to increase in the later hours of the day(unless its just a fluke I've made almost all my visits in the evening?)
