Here are instructions on how to mod Lust Doll or create your own content using the game's engine.

1. Buy RPG Maker VX Ace

To be able to mod Lust Doll, you'll need the program: RPG Maker VX Ace. You can buy it from the links below, and it usually gets heavily discounted (often by 80% or more), so try to wait for a sale.

2. Learn the basics

Before starting to mod the game, make sure you learn some of the basics of RPG Maker VX Ace. You can check the help file for information, or look for tutorials or forums online. The official RPG Maker forums are a good start:

You don't need to be an expert, but you should at least know how events, switches and variables, and self-switches work.

3. Get Lust Doll r17.0+

Versions 17.0 and up contain the modding reference, which'll help a lot in figuring out how the game works.

It's also set up so that any new maps created by modders won't be overridden by future updates to the game. You can modify older versions of the game, but it'll be much more work to update your mod to the latest version of the game, should you choose to do so.

Modifications to existing maps will however be overridden (as well any modifications to the database, or game files), so please take care when updating your version. There'll be a section here later on how to update your mod to new versions.

4. Modify VX Ace to support resolutions higher than 640x480.

Note: This modification is no longer officially supported by the company. If you have trouble using it, it'll be better to ask on Lust Doll's discord than the RPG Maker forums.

This modification will allow VX Ace to work at a higher resolution than the current maximum (640x480), but requires certain scripts to work (and can still cause glitches to occur depending on what's done.)

To install the high resolution mod:

1. Locate the RPG Maker VX Ace folder. For the Steam version, it's \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RPGVXAce. It may be different for other versions.

2. Inside the VX Ace folder, make a backup copy of RGSS301.dll

3. Go into the System folder inside Lust Doll's folder. Find the file named RGSS301.dll. Copy that file from Lust Doll's System folder into the VX Ace folder, overwriting the original RGSS301.dll.

Now your version of VX Ace will support high resolution. More importantly, you'll be able to play Lust Doll in the editor!

If you wish to revert the changes, overwrite the new RGSS301.dll with the backup copy that you made.

5. Visit the in-game reference room

Go to the Inner Sanctum, and the icon marked 'Modding' will have changed to 'Modding*'. Entering it will bring you to the modder's reference room, which'll help you get started on learning how to mod the game. Have fun!
