Shade is a kaithrit bounty hunter and sometimes-pirate that [[Captain Steele]] meets on [[Myrellion]], shortly after meeting [[Kara | Kara Volke]] for the first time. Kara asks Steele to distract Shade, who's on the planet looking for her; depending on Steele's choices in Kara's introduction, Steele can either end up with Shade as a lover, drinking friend, or sworn enemy. Through her interactions, it is evident that Shade is an older woman -- a mother, too -- and a veteran with plenty of stories under her belt.

She grew up relatively poor and, despite her access to education, eventually turning to bounty hunting to make ends meet. During her early years as a huntress, she met the ausar pirate [[Amara Faell]] and had a child by her: Astra. Her pregnancy caused a falling out with her mother, and Astra fled to the icy world of Uveto where she was taken in by the [[Stormguard]] religious faction. She lived there for several years before returning to her career, now with greater training and backing thanks to her new patrons. She has since pulled several high profile contracts, including rescuing corporate C.E.O.s' families, and on occasion has joined forces with her sometimes-lover Amara to hunt prey for the [[Black Void]]. This side job eventually leads her to meet Steele, either as allies, lovers, or enemies.

Once Steele gets to know her, Shade reveals herself to be calm, cool, and laid back. She's capable, but doesn't show off -- though she ''is'' happy to share the details of some of her more impressive bounties with Steele over drinks. Steele can fuck Shade at the tavern on Myrellion simply by asking, prompting her to take Steele back to her ship, the ''Mirage'', for a ride. Shade's scenes are fairly dominant on her part, with her playing the classic "busty MILF" role as a more experienced leading partner. She has a tail-cunt, earned on one of her bounty missions, and is more than happy to use it on Steele in bed, which can lead to her tail bearing eggs.

When first met, Shade is a potentially hostile character within the confines of [[#KaraQuest,_Part_1|Kara's Quest]]. If Steele makes the appropriate choices, it is possible to get friendly with Shade and sex her. Once there is a positive relationship with her, Steele can interact with her in several different ways.
After defeating Queen Taivra and redeeming the coordinate pod for money, Shade approaches Steele and activates the pod on accident, this leads to a Steele Tech technician scanning Shade and reveals to Steele that Shade's mystery father is Victor. Upon discovery, the player can either reveal to Shade who her father is or hide it from her. Hiding her heritage from her results in Steele telling her that the activation of the pod was a bug in the system. Revealing who her father was results in an awkward scene of realization of Steele's and Shade coitus (if performed) was with each other's half sibling. Shade promptly leaves to her home on [[Uveto]]. No matter Steele's decision, Shade can still be talked to and have sex with, most likely until the introduction of [[Uveto]] into the game. After finding out your secret relation if you chose to tell her you will receive a message next time you land on [[Uveto]], telling you she wants to talk and the location of her house.

In addition to the usual talk options, Shade can eventually reveal the existence of the 5th planet in TiTS: [[Uveto]], where she lived for some time, and where her daughter [[Astra]] currently resides. She mentions that she is a member of the [[Stormguard]] religious faction, despite her agnosticism, and deeply respects their warrior tradition, which helped to shape her into the woman she is today.

She'll also hint at several of the bosses to be encountered in Kara's second quest, [[Pirate_Base|the Pirate Base]], including [[Dr. Khan]] and [[Amara Faell]].

Shade is equipped with an [[Arc_Caster|Arc Caster]] and wears a [[Lightning_Duster|Lightning Duster]] and [[Reaper_Armaments_Mark_II_Shield_Generator|Mark II Shield]]. She also carries a [[Hold-out_Pistol|Hold-out Pistol]] for backup if she has been disarmed or the [[Captain Steele|player character]] has complete immunity to electric attacks.

When encountered as a hostile, Shade's combat actions include:
* Shoot First - Shade gets off an extra shot in Turn 1, UNLESS the target also has [[Perks_by_source_#Shoot_First|Shoot First]].
* Disarming Shot - Targets Steele only. Attempts to Disarm Steele with a well-placed shot.
* Arc Caster - Basic ranged attack that does electric damage to a target.
* Holdout Pistol - Backup ranged attack that does kinetic damage to a target.
* Quickdraw - Free action. If Shade has been disarmed or if target is immune to electric damage after getting shot from Arc Caster.
* Tazer - Shoots dart at a target doing electric damage with a chance of a stun.
* Gas Grenade - Grenade that reduces Reflexes and Aim on a target.

===== KaraQuest, Part 1 =====
Shade starts off as a bounty hunter looking for Steele's employer. It's possible to distract Shade (successfully or not), or to betray [[Kara]] and help Shade cash in on the bounty. If Steele ends up fighting against Shade and winning, she'll escape to fight another day; if Steele loses, she'll contemptuously dismiss Steele and never be seen again. If Steele successfully distracts her (via flirting) or sides with her, Steele will earn a friend and possible lover on Myrellion.

===== KaraQuest, Part 2 =====
If Steele didn't side with Shade, she'll appear later as an optional boss in the second part of Kara's adventure on the [[Pirate Base]]. Depending on [[Captain Steele]]'s choices, and Kara's personality, Shade can either survive the encounter (barely), be executed by Kara, or if Steele is her lover, decide not to engage at all and retreat. If she is in a relationship with Steele, the encounter leads to a dialogue with Shade back at the bar that results in either her asking for some distance due to the perceived betrayal, or outright dumping a dishonest Steele.

If she is a hostile encounter during this part of the quest, she will be aided by a number of [[Fenris_Drone|fenris drones]], although victory in this fight only requires her to be defeated, not necessarily the drones.

If she is not hostile and Steele sees the mission through to completion, Steele's next visit with her at the tavern will be different. Shade will confront Steele about the situation and depending on Steele's personality and sexual history with Shade, the outcome may vary. When asked why Steele slept with her, Steele can respond by saying she was '''A Good Fuck''', open up and saying that Steele '''Like Shade''', saying it was done '''For Kara''', lie by saying it was just a '''Coincidence''', or '''Say Nothing'''.

Responding negatively will have Shade leave Steele and Steele will be unable to interact with her again. If Steele chose to say it was a coincidence, and Steele's [[Alignment_#Personality|personality]] is incredibly mischievous, or if Steele admitted in taking a liking to Shade, Shade may be able to look past the lie and not leave Steele--however she will request some time to think her feelings over. If Steele has completed in reclaiming the [[Steele Tech Probe|probe]] in [[Queen Taivra's Palace|Taivra's palace]], Shade will leave for [[Uveto]]; otherwise, she will stay in the tavern until Steele finds it.

===== Ballad of the Ice Queen =====
As a spin-off to Kara's quest, positive responses towards Shade may have her move back to Uveto and visit her [[Astra|daughter]]. While this is not necessarily a quest, it is an expansion to her interactions. Depending on Steele's past and present activity, there are a few different reactions Shade may give, if at all.

Prior to this event, it is required that Shade is alive and active. If Shade is unconscious, she will be inactive for about two days before being active again. If Shade needs time to herself to think, it will take about a day before she is active again.

After docking on Uveto Station and leaving the hangar, if Shade is active and/or is already on Uveto, she will send Steele a message to meet her at the bar on the moon's surface. The letter may vary based on Steele's interactions. If Steele is Shade's friend/lover (secret or unrevealed relation, no betrayal) or sister (revealed relation, non-lover), Shade's interaction will mostly be positive, introducing Steele to her daughter, and will invite Steele to her house. If Steele is Shade's lover and has betrayed her in the [[Pirate Base]], Shade will feel threatened and give Steele the option to '''Promise''' to not interact with Kara any longer, or refuse and end the relationship. Choosing to refuse will make Shade leave and she will become hostile.

After the introduction, Shade should be available at her home from 10:00 to 20:00, otherwise she will appear in the bar. If Steele hasn't been to her house before, she may not appear in the bar until after Steele visits her at her home (some time after 17:00). Approaching her house at the appropriate time will allow Steele to use the '''Buzzer'''. If Steele is a lover and has a secret/unrevealed relation to Shade, Shade will invite Steele in for sex. If Steele is a lover and has a revealed relation to Shade, Shade will express her difficulties with the relationship and consults with Steele on the matter. Steele may be able to choose to '''Want Shade''' to have Shade as a sister and a lover, to '''Want Sister''' and forget about the past and keep the Shade as a sister, to have '''Distance''' from Shade and refuse to interact with her ever again, or be undecided by choosing '''Don't Know''' and allowing Shade to let Steele think on it.

''Note: Relationships outside of being her lover are yet to be implemented, so approaching her house as a non-lover may not produce any interactions at all. Any repeat interactions at her home have not yet been implemented either, though she will still appear at the bar in the appropriate times.''

Estie and Cruff are touring the galaxy setting up Vava groom in various star systems and planets in order to groom the local population. Cruff is a collected and rather smart seeming Kalablast as he acts based on information he's gathered rather than on instinct, so it seems.

He dresses simply and tightly in a white t-shirt and black jeans, out of which the well-padded bulk of his tawny, short-furred body fairly bursts. That fur grows in wavy abundance from his head and jaw, adding to his lion-like profile. He’s got it combed back out of the way, although there’s still a certain wildness to it all; savannah in motion. Out of it his two big, lynx-like ears reach. Although he lacks the saber teeth and his nose is probably too broad, here on Uveto it might just be able to mistake him for a milodan were it not for his four eyes. Although the kalabast generally has an affable, purposeful manner about him, those pale yellow orbs with their round black pupils have an odd solemnity to them.
