 The ship is stalked by a mega-varmint which will have to be defeated in order to get what you need. Once you get the core, and go back to Syne, you will be able to give her the core, or question her about why she wants it (Must have checked captain's logs). After questioning her you can choose to still give her the core or keep it for steele tech instead. (And get 100k credits but piss her off). If you give her the core, she will move to shineglass station and be available for interactions there. If you piss her off, she will be removed from the game (currently, it is likely she will have to be fought or something like that in the future if her demeanor when crossed is of any indication)
