The Excavation Robot A.K.A. The Spider-Crab-Murderbot, is an autonomous, more advanced version of the normal Zheng Shi Mining Robot and an optional boss if the player wishes to use the Spacewalk.

"You’re fighting some kind of monstrous crab-spider made of black metal and grinding gears, equipped with several gnashing claws and drills for extraterrestrial excavation. A pair of glowing red “eyes” - really sensors, and clearly quite powerful - stare down at you, one over the other. The steel beast has no mouth, its lunges and strikes are all accompanied by howls of crackling static across all channels, giving it an almost bestial roar!"

The Excavation Robot was tasked with harvesting mineral veins that can be found in Zheng Shi's crust as well as drilling massive openings and spaces within the asteroid for major construction projects. Because Zheng Shi is a large, misshapen asteroid it equipped with numerous, arthropod like appendages to crawl and cling along the station's uneven surface, and numerous powerful drills for Excavation purposes.

If the player is has yet to repair the main elevator, they can discover an airlock in the mines that can be opened from the inside. If the player previously obtained the Incomplete Spacesuit and the Spacesuit Helmet, and combined them into the Pirate Spacesuit, they can use it to walk along the circumference of the station to the ship hangar, thus avoiding most hostile encounters. However, upon reaching the airlock door for the hanger, the player will discover that the coupling for the door is broken. Upon, attempting to fix it, the player will be attacked by this fearsome Robot, and it's implied that it was responsible for the coupling breaking in the first place.

Combat

This is perhaps the hardest way to repair the elevator and yet the most rewarding, since destroying it allows free fast travel from Zheng Shi's docks to the other end of the mine, bypassing most of the hostiles . The Excavation Robot protects itself with a modified version of Urbolg's Prototype Pirate Shield and armed with a large Laser Carbine. Because of the circumstances this enemy is fought in, the player can only fight this enemy while wearing the Pirate Spacesuit and the magnetic boots greatly reduces, the player's evasion and the accuracy of melee attacks. Aside from that, this enemy is capable of numerous, high accuracy and damage attacks that cause debilitating status effects. It has the 2nd highest number of hit points in the game right now after Doctor Lash, and is immune to stun, disarm, and Lust attacks. This enemy cannot be fled from and losing to it leads to a Bad End.

Move Set

• Mean Left Hook - The Excavation Robot will swing its left grappling Claw in an attempt to smash the player.
  • Basic melee attack
  • Deals kinetic crushing damage

• Flammenwerfer - The Excavation Robot will spray the player with its own fuel. It will then fire at you with its flamethrower, igniting the fuel.
  • Requires the Excavation Robot to have taken at least 30 points of direct damage
    • Deals moderate burning damage
      • Even if you evade the flamethrower using your Reflexes, the ignited fuel will cause the player to take burning DoT.

• Bite The Curb, Bitch - The Excavation Robot will use its grappling Claw to grab and crush the player's helmet. Afterwards, they will smash the player headfirst into the catwalk.
  • Requires at least 40 points of energy
    • Deals kinetic piercing damage
      • Trips the PC
        • If this move connects, the player will have an Intelligence test. If they fail, they will forget to immediately reinforce their helmet and lose oxygen. This will cause a decrease in Intelligence, Reflexes, and Physique for the rest of the fight.

• Eyebite - The Excavation Robot will reveal about a dozen "eyes" that will lock onto the player before firing 1 massive combined Laser.
  • Basic ranged attack
    • Deals massive burning damage
