Benoit

"Yes, go ahead, stare," says the basilisk in a long-suffering tone, making you jump. "It is a funny joke, yes? Believe me, I wake up laughing about it every morning. At least here zey stare. In ze mountains, zey are so embarrassed zey can't even look at me. Or at least I assume zey can't."

Benoit is a blind basilisk who, along with Pierre, his Alsatian, runs a pawn shop in the Bizarre Bazaar. "Geckos Garbidg", as the scrawled sign labels it, is open from 9:00 to 17:00. A female or herm player can have sex with him and become pregnant. A male path feminizing him was planned but not yet implemented. He is a source of the Oviposition perk for non-bird/reptiles with vaginas.

Shop

Unlike Oswald in Tel'Adre, Benoit only pays 1/3 of the items he buys (unless he impregnates a sufficiently fertile PC) and offers a selection of items for sale for twice their base value (eggs don't change this). His selection is always 3 items but varies from day to day.

Slot 1 will contain one of:

Note that the two teas are 3 gems cheaper here than from Giacomo. There is also 10% chance, it will contain God's Mead for 12 gems.

Slot 2 will likely contain, for 12 gems, one of:

There is a 4% chance it may instead contain one of:

Slot 3 will likely contain one of:

It has a 10% chance to instead contain:

Sex

Go to Benoit while pregnant with Ovi Elixir eggs or while in heat, and you will have the option to suggest sex. After you take the option once it remains unlocked afterward, no matter your pregnancy or lack thereof.

He at first has two basic scenes, one wherein you goad him into being dominant, and one wherein you dominate. The first time, you will get a modified version of the latter, followed by the option to accept contraceptive herbs or not. This is a bit silly, since one's womb may contain eggs already for this scene, but perhaps basilisk semen has some way to alter existing eggs.

Feminization

If you have 40 relationship with him, and have not had sex with him as a female; talking with Benoit will trigger a scene that makes it possible to turn him into a girl. You will need to bring the right items to Benoit to do this. The recipe is:

Perks

After having sex with Benoit, the next time you select the Talk option he will give you a theoretical recipe for getting the Oviposition perk without needing harpy or lizan transformations. In fact, this is all he will talk about once you unlock it, so be sure you've seen all his other Talk text first if you want to. It's probably a bug.

The recipe is:

Bring these to Benoit and select the Basilisk Womb option. Then return and Suggest sex. This unlocks both the Oviposition and Basilisk Womb perks - the latter allows Benoit to impregnate you, and also the generic Basilisks that you encounter in the High Mountains.

<range type="comment" id="504957214_2">If Benoit does impregnate a PC with a total fertility of 10 or more, he will change his shop's buy prices to be the same as Oswald's.</range id="504957214_2"> once the PC has given birth. (Note: This needs confirmation. A test using a character who had provided no less than 70 eggs fertilized by Benoit still gave no changes in Benoit's prices. It is possible there are some other factor rather than impregnations that will cause Benoit to improve his offers.) You must lay 10 Large Jade-colored eggs, Benoit will ask if they are females (note I did this the first time I had eggs by drinking 4 Ovi-Elixirs right after sex with him.)

Notes

  • During the first sex scene he asks a female PC to get a feel for her body first (with him being blind and all) and if the PC has scales or some form of reptilian transformations he will notice it, saying “I cannot believe I did not realise you were a sister of ze scales,” “Zat is very... interesting.”
  • If a female PC has Feline ears and a tail then when he's getting a feel for her body, then he will laugh and comment, “I always wondered why Pierre gets all excited when 'e sees you.”
  • If asked about the shop's sign, Benoit comments that he got a catguy to make it, and he believes it reads "Salamander's Salubrious Salvage". The player opts against disillusioning him.

Trivia

  • In one conversation you have with Benoit, he will tell you about him being teased by some demons when they asked how 'cheese omelet' is said in the Basilisk language. This is a reference to an episode from Dexter's Laboratory, where Dexter used a machine to study for his French class, and ended up to only be able to say 'cheese omelet' in french, and his sister Deedee mocking him with 'that's all you can say'. This reference works well do to the fact Benoit's accent "sounds" French.
  • When you open the "Buy" menu Benoit will say "Some may call zis junk, Me... I call it garbage." This is a reference to a line from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim where merchants that sell miscellaneous goods say "Some may call this junk, Me I call it treasure."
