The Shieldwall Staff: strong enough for a military, but made for a civilian.

Most modern armies dump their development budgets into bigger guns, better shields, and better vehicles, viewing melee weapons as tools of last resort, unworthy of significant investment. For smaller and lighter creatures like rodenians, this is even more true. Where others saw the combat's distant past, KihaCorp saw opportunity. By integrating modern shield projection technology into a bludgeoning staff, they transformed a melee armament into a defensive guard and tool at all the same time. The military version was capable of being planted in the ground via a sharpened tip and interlinked with other nearby Shieldwall staves to create exactly what its name implies: a defensive barrier strong enough to block rail-toting snipers, deflect cannon shells, and reportedly even nullify a thraggen tank's main laser cannon, though the veracity of that report remains a hotly contested subject of debate on the extranet.

The civilian version lacks the multi-staff interlink capability, instead slaving its emitters to boost the owner's own dedicated shield-projection belt. It has sold extremely well in the leadup to the latest Planet Rush with would-be adventurers wisely prioritizing their own defense - and the comfort of a weapon they can use as a walking stick.
