Description

The zither is a popular instrument in the region of Macah, Nekora and Kitsuhon; each nation has their own take on the instrument, and the thirteen-stringed variant particular to The Old Country is recognized by the imperial court as its national instrument. With a history that spans thousands of years and dips into mythology, the instrument has been considered a romantic and magical one, a reputation that has been encouraged by musicians themselves.

Such treasures are always made with the finest handicraft from the wood of a very specific kind of tree to best bring out the music of the final instrument, with no detail left overlooked. However, these were hardly portable, and the needs of traveling musicians spurred the proliferation of more lightweight zithers with fewer strings.

This particular piece is light enough to be carried in both hands and played while standing, braced with one arm while the other picks the strings. Such would never be tolerated in a refined setting, yet this is anything but.
