Forge Golem

"Goddess, what have you wrought...?" Daliza murmurs, watching the stone-and-crystal behemoth work. She takes a cautious step closer, disembarking the lift platform. The moment her boot touches the floor of the forge, the golem freezes, hammer suspended in the air mid-swing. Dal gasps, hand tightening around her sword's hilt, as the sound of stone grinding on stone fills the forge. The golem slowly rotates its head around to stare her down, crystal eyes flaring with an inner light.

Appearance

A titan made of stone stands at the heart of the forge, heaving up a tremendous crystal hammer and slamming it down on the anvil. It's a monstrous reflection of the human form, too top-heavy and with great sweeping horns and a tail that must be necessary to stabilize its massive form. To your eyes, though, the thing looks more demonic than draconic. Each time it raises its immense arms, chains of gold linked to gilded manacles drag across the floor.

The Forge Golem is encountered on Dracia during the quest The Demon of Ice. Upon going to the second floor, the party will come across the Forge Golem, who will immediately engage in combat. After achieving victory after the second stage, you can then have it remake the [Crown of Winter], if you have the necessary items.

Stage One

You shout a desperate "Watch out!" as the golem's crystalline muscles flex, and its hammer begins to raise again. The cudgel comes down in the blink of an eye, but Daliza's just a little bit faster, drawing her blade and lunging in quick enough that the hammer crashes into the ground where she'd been standing while she slashes her kitsune-forged blade across the golem's chest. Sparks fly wildly, scattering across the floor, but as the behemoth lumpers around again, you can see there's hardly a scratch on it. Daliza snarls, swinging her blade back up into a high guard.

Stage Two

The golem staggers back under the force of your party's assault, straining against the enchanted manacles binding its wrists and ankles. "Keep the pressure on it!" Daliza barks, leaping in and bringing her sword down on the golem's head, shearing across one of its horns. Shattered crystal scatters across the floor, but the behemoth remains standing -- and if stone could look furious, the monstrosity's slashed-up face is damned close. It groans, the sound of gravel pouring, and lunges against its chains. The golden links strain, creaking and bending, giving way to the golem's bulging crystal muscles.

"Get back!" Ryn yelps, ducking down behind one of the work benches just a moment before the chains snap entirely. You follow her lead and hit the deck as shrapnel goes flying everywhere, accompanied by a ringing echo that sets your teeth to aching. The floor trembles beneath you, and suddenly the golem, once ponderously sluggish, leaps across the forge and slams its hammer down into the workbench on its way sailing past. You and Ryn both yelp in shock, diving across the floor to escape the attack.

The golem roars, throwing its head back and pounding its chest. Embers of flame drool from its fingertips, searing the ground beneath its stony feet.

"Etheryn!" Daliza shouts, vaulting the bench to return to your side. "Stay back! It's gone berserk!"
