Revision as of 14:05, 24 March 2015
Quests are storylines that a player of Corruption of Champions can pursue during the course of the game. Quests can be roughly divided into three categories: the initial quest, the main quest and optional quests which can be pursued just for fun and/or profit. Quests usually require the champion to go to several locations and perform certain actions to advance its storyline.
Initial Quest
Your first quest - the reason why you were sent to Mareth in the first place - is to keep the demons from invading Ingnam through the portal between the two worlds. That is easy: just set up your campsite around it. The demons' minions may still appear at night but when they do, they'll be so busy ravaging you and your belongings they never even notice that portal. If you manage to find a friend or two to stand guard while you're asleep, you can avoid the ravaging too (if you want to avoid it that is). In other words: as long as you stay in the game and avoid all Bad Ends, the job is done!
But then there is the matter of Zetaz, the imp that attacked you the moment you entered Mareth. Somehow you managed to get away from that encounter but your predecessors had been less lucky and you swore to find him and avenge them! And besides: wouldn't it be great to could get rid of this demon scourge once and for all? Inevitably you're drawn into what is to become the Main Quest!
Main Quest
The main quest begins when the champion is sent through the portal to Mareth at the beginning of the game and, after their encounter with Zetaz, swears to find the demon responsible for abducting and corrupting the champions who had come before them.
Marae's Island
While exploring with the Boat, unlocked as a place by exploring around the lake, the champion can find the island of Marae, one of Mareth's only remaining gods. If the champion is not corrupt Marae explains some of the origins of the demons, and that they are using magic to keep the rain from falling, and are soaking the lands with their own tainted sexual fluids in an attempt to corrupt Marae. She also tells the champion about a factory at the foot of the mountains that produces most of the corruptive fluids, and entreats the champion to shut it down.
Demonic Factory
After speaking with Marae, the champion can find the Demon Factory while exploring the Mountain. This is the first dungeon in the main story, and consists of nine rooms. While within a dungeon characters cannot masturbate, nor can they run from fights. Enemies found within dungeons can be considered bosses or mini-bosses, and losing combat to one leads to a game over. For this reason, it is recommended that the player saves the game before entering a dungeon, and then save frequently when progressing through one.
The demon factory consists of enslaved humans stuffed with corruptive, sexual fluids and are milked endlessly. The champion must defeat the three demons that occupy the area and save the humans. However, the end comes with a major choice: the champion can shut down the factory which will stop the corruption affecting Marae, although the demons will later attempt to ressurect the factory, or overload the factory which will not only permanently destroy it, but fully transform Marae into a corrupted beast. Once the factory is dealt with, the champion can return to Marae.
Deep Cave
The second mandatory quest in the game can only be found after the Demon Factory Quest has been completed. Exploring the Deepwoods allows the player to find the Deep Cave; this is where Zetaz has hidden himself and established a colony of renegade imps. If the player can defeat the dangers of this dungeon, then they find the map needed to reach the final of the mandatory quest dungeons.
Lethice's Lair
The final stage of the main quest is to locate the hidings of Lethice, the Queen of the Demons. There is a problem though: It is nowhere to be found! You found a map at the Deep Cave but with Mareth's rather subjective geography it is not as helpful as it would have been elsewhere. Until you are able to locate Lethice's Lair, all you can do is prepare - build your strength, gain (and breed) allies and perhaps have a little bit (or quite a lot) of fun as well. (The final stage of the main quest has not been implemented into the game yet.)
Optional Side-Quests and Side-Stories
In addition to the initial quest and the main quest, there are numerous side quests in the game. Some are more like storylines with little or no PC interaction, some are simple quests where you have to find a few basic items and bring it to a specific place or NPC, some are more elaborate adventures. It can sometimes be hard to determine exactly what are independent side-quests/stories and what are just parts of the regular game playing but here are a few examples of fairly well defined side-quests and stories:
Madeleine Quest
See the page about Madeleine for details.
Marble Quest
This optional quest can begin at any time by exploring Whitney's Farm. When the player meets Marble the Cowgirl, if they do not offend her by trying to rape her, then they can build a romantic relationship with her.
Marble's Purification Quest
If the player completes Marble's quest by breaking their addiction, an emotionally torn Marble will ask the player to help her purify herself of the corruption that stains her soul.
Amily Quest
By exploring the Lake, a character with low Corruption can find Amily, the mouse-morph, in the Ruined Village. She can be courted and eventually become a lover.
Mysterious Egg Quest
By exploring the Swamp, a character can find a hidden cave, and read the message left behind with this egg.
Scylla's Quest
When the Demon Factory quest is complete, a character who has both at least one pair of balls and a 12 inch long penis can find the corrupted nun Scylla in The Wet Bitch in Tel'Adre.
Vala's Quest
This mini-quest can be done during the Deep Cave quest. The corrupted Fairy Vala can be found in one of the rooms in the Deep Cave; her mind and soul can be healed by feeding her Pure Honey, and when the Deep Cave is complete, she can be found in The Wet Bitch in Tel'Adre from 12:00 onwards.
Helia's Quest
This mini-quest can be done by befriending Helia the Salamander. If sufficiently courted, she will ask the player to help her invade a very tough dungeon, which she refers to as the Tower of the Phoenix.
Urta's Fertility Quest
This mini-quest can be done by courting Urta. Once she is in love with the PC, the player may ask her about her Family from her conversation menu; this will have her share her tragic backstory. On a subsequent visit, the slot occupied by the Family dialogue option is replaced by a repeatable Infertility option. Selecting this gives the player the option to start this mini-quest. Taking control of Urta, the player will fight several unique monsters in a quest to restore Urta's fertility, allowing her to bear or father offspring.
For more details, see the Urta's Fertility Quest page.
Desert Cave Quest
This mini quest can be unlocked by exploring the desert and fighting at least one Sand Witch. To unlock this quest you must be at least level four and fight and defeat at least one Sand Witch. The player will discover a cave while exploring the desert, which they assume must be the entrance to the Sand Witches' lair. The cave is being guarded by a sphinx who will only let you pass once you solve her riddles. If you threaten to fight her, she'll be scared and let you go in without actually fighting. At the end of the quest the player meets the Sand Mother and convinces them that they are here to purge Mareth of the demons. They then have the option to converse with her and learn a bit of the world's history, as well as the story of the Sand Witches.
