Description
Queensguard is Queen Taivra's personal bodyguard, a nyrean male who, rather than choosing to be weak and submissive, trained herself in the art of war and assembled a suit of heavy plate armor. Unlike the huntresses of her species, Queensguard fights in heavy armor and with a sword and shield, making her a particularly tough nut to crack for any who would threaten her queen.
Appearance
Abnormally for her, you suspect, her helmet is resting on the stone beside her, revealing a pale, battle-scarred face and a head of short, spiky black hair falling just over his oddly amethyst-colored eyes.
The warrior before you is clad from head to toe in heavy metal plates, like a medieval soldier’s, supplementing her natural chitin with forged steel. She carries a hefty kite-style shield, bearing the same crest as the tyrant she serves’, plus a glistening longsword that twirls about her with expert skill. Clearly the queen has chosen her personal guard well!
History/Personality/Information of Note
Queensguard is a stern, loyal, and commanding nyrea -- quite the departure from the norm for males of her race. Like most male nyrea, Queensguard spent her early adult life being terrorized and victimized by huntresses. Eventually, battered and heavily-egged, she stumbled into a wetraxxel's territory and collapsed. The huge bug-man who lived there took pity on her, and allowed her to stay with his harem through the birth and raising his clutch. While there, the nyrea who would become Queensguard learned to fight from the warrior-lord of the harem, and eventually was given her first sword and armor as a parting gift when she decided it was time to leave. Thereafter, she was a warrior able to defend herself from the average huntresses prowling the caves... until she eventually came to blows with Queen Taivra, coming across the fledgling monarch as she was herding a large group of betas and males into her stronghold. She tried to free the subjugated nyrea, but lost to the queen's greater skill at arms: a first since she left the wetraxxel's den.
Recognizing the warrior-male's skills, Taivra offered to allow her new subject to become her bodyguard rather than breeding her. Queensguard accepted the offer, and has served Taivra since. She shows an almost fanatical loyalty to Taivra, and acts as her champion when Captain Steele attempts to invade Queen Taivra's Palace.
Interactions
Steele's first interaction with Queensguard is as Taivra's champion during the palace dungeon. Queensguard is guarding Steele's Rival and Dane--who Taivra captured earlier--and if Steele decides to fight the way through, she will be the first roadblock. Either way, when Dane and Jack/Jill escape, Queensguard will attempt to block them. Dane overpowers her and runs her through with a broken spear, badly injuring the bodyguard before either challenging the queen or escaping with her charge. After the dungeon's events resolve, Taivra is last seen cradling a wounded Queensguard in her arms, shouting for a healer. (At least, unless Steele approaches and executes Taivra on the spot.)
Regardless of Steele's choices, she is gravely injured by Dane during the events of the dungeon, and very nearly dies.
If Steele chooses to either take over or mate with Taivra as equals, Queensguard will be found within the palace 12 hours after the dungeon's events, standing near the interior fountain. She's recovering from her wounds, and offers to talk to her new king/queen. In her first interaction, she'll reveal her actual name (Cerres), and thank Steele for not hurting Taivra.
Combat
During combat with Queensguard, Steele can take a turn to move towards the cage holding Dane and the rival cousin captive. Queensguard may attempt to push Steele back during the combat phases to prevent getting close.
