Aim is one of the Core Stats Steele and other creatures have. Higher Aim increases the strength of a character's ranged attacks, both on the ground and in space. The Smuggler's Flash Grenade ability also relies on Aim.
Increasing Aim
During character creation, the Athletic upbringing increases this stat by one. Unlike Physique and Reflexes, however, Bookworm does not decrease Aim. Choosing Aim Affinity increases starting Aim by one in addition to making it easier to increase the stat later on through gameplay. However, it does not affect any static increases added through level-ups. These bonuses stack, allowing you start with anywhere from three to five Aim.
After character creation, various items and events have a chance of increasing Aim. Note that this list is probably incomplete.
- ClearYu increases Aim but at the cost of Intelligence, which will likely be harder to get back.
- Bow training with Tanis has a chance to slowly increase aim. This method can be spammed with three simple button presses but caps out at 25 or half of the player's maximum, whichever is lower.
- After this, the best method of increasing Aim is to buy a Lifetime Membership at the Ten Ton Gym then repeatedly Swim Laps in the Pool, returning to your ship to get rid of the Sore/Very Sore Status Effects once you run out of Energy. Aim gains for individual sessions are low but since there are no combat encounters or unique scenes involved, this method can easily be spammed until the stat's maxed out.
- However, if any of your equipped clothing lacks the swimwear tag, you'll need to Get Ready and Rinse each time you enter and leave the pool area. The easiest way to remedy this is to buy the One-Piece Swimsuit from Alex Surf on Tavros and unequip your upper and lower undergarments.
- You can also use the Spa to restore your Energy. However, this is less individually effective and does nothing to decrease Sore or Very Sore, which will eventually increase to Worn out and completely disable Energy recovery from anything other than sleep.
