“I am Jean-Claude, the Rude King, if you please. You are the interloper, if you please. Ah, yes! Yes you are! Do not try to deny it!” He laughs richly, his slow, velvety voice rolling around you as he goes on. “You have beat up enough of my scouts that you have left, eh, an impression, shall we say? We do not need orders from the demons to watch out for such a rough player as you!” He moves as fast as a snake, belying his size and frame, to grab you tight around the jaw. His claws dig into your skin as he stares deep into your eyes, encompassing you in their rich, bottomless glow.

Jean-Claude is the king of the basilisks, encountered in Lethice’s Stronghold. You must face him if you attempt to cross the room full of basilisks without getting the Laybans, or if your speed is less than 90. Once captured, you are freed of the other basilisks' petrification, and need an Intelligence of 80 to take advantage of the opening.

  • [Taunt]: You mock Jean-Claude for taking credit for your capture when his underlings were responsible, goading him into a fight.
  • [Run]: You attempt to escape the room, but have no chance. The bad end proceeds as normal.

Failing to taunt Jean-Claude can lead to one of two Bad Ends. Normally, he will turn you into a sex toy for Lethice, and hand you over to her after having some fun with you. If you received a basilisk womb from Benoit, however, Jean-Claude decides that you will bring down the demons after all: by breeding hundreds of new soldiers, who will help him topple Lethice and give control of the empire to the freed basilisks.

Description

On Capture

Dry, smooth hands grip you and winch you up so you may see the owner of the thick, rich voice. It’s a basilisk- but bigger, at least a foot taller than those that surround him, heavier built, and obviously simmering deep in corruption. Purple scales slather his shoulders and back like an imperial cloak, and he is clad in a military tunic and ornate brass cuirass. The former does absolutely nothing to disguise his two thick, purple pricks, which unlike those of his brethren swing freely and imposingly between his muscled legs. His long, tapering face gives him a toothy sneer of epic proportions, and his proud head is crowned with a helmet, resplendent with a long, black ponytail. His eyes... you renew your frantic efforts to look away. Leering, the basilisk rex steps closer to you, bathing you in their hungry glare. They are a seething yellow, pupil-less, two eternal, burning suns of depthless corruption.

In Battle

You are fighting Jean-Claude. He stands over seven feet tall and has a perfect frame, padded with hard, defined muscle despite not looking heavy on his feet in the slightest; the way he circles you, his thighs tensing and relaxing, his powerful tail swishing, ready to spring forward at the first hint of an opening, makes a deep, monkey part of your brain panic, warning you that you are battling an apex predator in his prime. He is dressed in a leather tunic, a bronze cuirass and a centurion’s helmet that combine to give him even more protection than his thick, green and purple mottled hide otherwise would. His eyes glow with a depthless yellow light, endlessly catching your own, enticing you to look further into them. He wields a stained-looking cutlass, which he swings by his side with mocking casualness as he moves; it mimics the movement of his dual, tumescent purple cocks, swaying beneath his tunic in crude suggestion.

Battle

Jean-Claude has 650 HP, and is capable of performing two attacks with his cutlass. Teasing him will have little effect, and is very dangerous, as he can use his stare to entice you into removing your armor. If he succeeds, you will have to spend the rest of the fight undefended.

However Jean-Claude is defeated, he will tear out his own throat, committing suicide. If the player's Corruption is at least 60, he will comment that he refuses to let you disgrace him; otherwise, he does it to escape the wrath of Lethice, and suggests that you do the same before you meet her. With his death, the basilisks turn to you as their new ruler, and you order them to vacate the hall.

Losing to Jean-Claude will lead to the same possible set of bad ends detailed above.

Notes

  • When Jean-Claude first appears, he and his underlings speak almost exclusively in French, the language of the basilisks. The translations of the scene are as follows:
Line Translation Notes
“Attention, un intrus!” "Look out, an intruder!"
“Attrapez-le!” "Get him!" Does not change to attrapez-la for female players.
“Et maintenant, que devrions-nous faire?” "And now, what should we do?"
“Faites venir le Roi.” "Summon in the King."
“J'ose espérer que vous avez une bonne raison de me déranger, soldat, car il me brûle d'envie de vous écorcher vif et de violer votre cadavre. Oh! ma foi, qu'avons-nous là?” "I certainly hope you have a good reason to disturb me, soldier, for I now burn with the desire to skin you alive and rape your corpse. Oh my, what have we here?"
“Peux-tu me comprendre, intrus? Non? Sprechen de Gnollen?” "Can you understand me, intruder? No? Do you speak Gnoll?" Briefly tries German, indicating that it is the Gnolls' language. He appears to blend the informal du and the formal Sie to create de.
“Épargne-moi ta miséricorde, intrus.” "Spare me your mercy, intruder."
“Que- quels sont vos ordres, mon roi?”

“Que- quels sont vos ordres, ma reine?”

"Wha- what are your orders, my king?"
