Background lore holds a collection of places, events, and other things of note briefly mentioned by a character that the Champion will probably never learn of, or only in passing.
House of the Blue Moon
- Mentioned by Myria / the Lapis Hoplite when summoned and defeated in combat, it is an old Belharan house of nobility, dedicated to the belief in Tira.
Khushkan War
HEAVY WIP - may be incorrect
- About 50 years before The Khushkan war/tragedy began when Khushkan entrepreneurs hired more warriors than they could pay or feed for, which resulted in a whirlwind of conquest in the Belharan Heartlands in a desperate effort to keep their forces together. When they faced defeat, they had turned to the Wraith Nightmare that nearly turned tragedy into an apocalypse.
- Their deal with the remaining wraith turned them and half the tribes in the region into husks that practically reenacted the whole Godswar over the Heartlands for 5 years, until the Heartlanders banded together
- Many Heartlanders were mistrustful of each other, such that diplomats from various priesthoods were required to seal deals, while others required the Godsworn and paladins to hold the line.
- Annika describes the event as; Well, the war was the worst it'd been in a century and a half. Huge battles that soaked fields with blood, whole cities razed, farmland destroyed, refugees slaughtered.
- The Khushkan Horde
- Noble Scion Champion: Their family line, alongside half the Old Empire, were in the frontlines of the war. Many stories were told from their grandparents' generation.
- Burn the Drapsacan college to the ground.
Siege of Latrea
- Was a six month-long siege by the Khushkans against the city of Latrea that occurred one year before the end of the war. The valkyries could not break the siege due to a unique Wraithslave that looked like a common porcupine swollen to the size of a mammoth that could launch clouds of poisonous needles, although it was immobile beyond the cart it was carried in.
- Before the gates fell, a great fog emerged that allowed 200 valkyries to reinforce the half-starved defenders, and when the gates fell, the barbarians were taken by surprise. Despite the six to one numbers in favor of the Khushkan, the usually well disciplined barbarians were fighting in desperation to pillage and eat, which resulted in their numbers being thinned.
- Mentioned by Thrud in Story as one of her favorite stories during the waning years of the war.
- She had saved a young stablehand from a raider who was feasting on a freshly killed horse. The farmhand had been assisting the horse in its labor, and with Thrud's help, the foal survived. The boy would reunite with his family, and sometime later, Thrud would receive a letter from the boy thanking her. This is a letter she continues to keep in her writing desk.
The Battle of Pelissia
HEAVY WIP - may be incorrect
- Is the last major attack the Khushkans
- Is referenced as the last big lashing out the Khushkans managed before they fell to the combined forces of paladins, valkyries, harpies and Astrida. Realizing that they were losing the battle, Khushkan raiders sacrificed countless scores of their own just to inflict as much pain on the forces of light as they can.
- Annika and Eira participated in this battle
- Annika: If you ever want all the beer you can drink in a Heartlands tavern, tell them you stood at Pelissia against the Khushkans.
- This battle mentioned in one of the four random variations when talking to Ahmri about Read Together - Red, additional variation if the Champion has: [Condition]Only 1 variation will be displayed:
