Thrud makes her first appearance during the closing end of Shadows Over the Sun, where Annika introduces the Champion to Thrud and Hjörr.

Annika also mentions the pair as being two of the finest warriors she's ever met, and its mentioned that Thrud was a mentee of Annika.

If the Champion has the Corrupted Dawnsword with them after waking up, Annika instead mentions that Thrud and Hjörr will be the tip of the spear in fighting the demons in the south.

The Champion will be able to meet Thrud proper when searching the south western most part of the Palace of Light, where they can see her going through one of the obstacle courses. Once she finishes, she properly introduces herself to the Champion and invites them to join her for a meal in one of the private dining rooms of the mess hall. When asked how she was brought up, Thrud explains that her elf mother, who is aligned with the druids of the Old Wyld but kept it a secret from the city, was the one who raised her. Her mother would eventually reveal her faith, during the yearly Festivus party, where she snapped at a child offering her a plate of Lumenkatter. She refused to apologize and immediately left the city, however, Thrud chose not go with her mother, who saw it as the ultimate betrayal. Thrud wanted to prove to her that good things could from the Lumian faith, so she joined the Order of the Argent Wing where her talents were fostered, and she eventually became a valkyrie.

She did visit her parents several times after becoming a valkyrie, however both eventually passed, and Thrud was never able to fully reconcile with her mother. Although her mother was begrudgingly happy for the visits and never tried to talk Thrud away from what she was doing. Her father supported her choice from the start and even went hunting with him several times.

On the topic of Lumia's acceptance for the followers of the Old Wyld, unlike how the first valkyries were, Thrud answers that her only contribution was a stuttering account of her mother. She assumes its from a combination of things, and as the nightmare in the basement grew, Lumia became more accepting of other things. While a few zealous remain, some of the new recruits have been talking with the druids, and Thrud believes that Lumia's power can aid the druids in healing the old spirits. Additionally, she hopes that this and the demon threat will allow them to come together and achieve a greater peace.

When asked what her favorite story of the valkyries, she explains that during the Siege of Latrea, she rescued a young farmhand from a raider who was feasting on a dead horse. The farmhand had been attending to the horse while it was in labor, and with Thrud's help, the foal survived. Sometime after the end of the Khushkan War, she would receive a letter from the boy, thanking her and saying that he was going to grow up strong enough to protect the horses by himself. The horse she saved was also growing big enough to be his mount if he wished to become a warrior. She continues to keep the letter on her writing desk, and it helps her when she's feeling down about the work they do.

On her relationship with Lumia, Thrud comments that its nice to be able to talk to her again, which was something the valkyries used to be able to do before. Lumia always found the time to talk to everyone, even before Thrud became a fully fledged valkyrie.
