Tarah is a lean and soft pony, standing around 5'10" when she's at her best attention. A steely gray blue-roan coat covers her entire body, splotched with lots of darker coloration like an artist flicked ink all over a canvas. She sports a similarly dark equine nose at the end of her face, and her bright green eyes glow with bubbly excitement. A wavy waterfall of platinum blonde hair falls around her shoulders, and a similarly colored tuft sits at the end of a long bovine tail that continually swishes about behind her. First Encounter

When the Champion first enters the [Alchemist] shop on the first tile of the northern road of the Marefolk Village, they meet Kavi, the northern minotaur alchemist, and Tarah, her daughter. Tarah appears as a background, non-interactable character within the scene: she brings in sweets for the Champion and her mother but trips and drops them all over herself. She offers one of the fallen treats to the Champion, but Kavi, her mother, shoos her away to clean up. It's implied this kind of klutziness is common from Tarah; Kavi scolds her about regularly breaking jars of alchemical components.

In Kavi's Males talk, she reveals that Tarah didn't hesitate to take Mare's Barley when the choice was offered, and, in fact, took incredibly well to the drink, which Kavi counts as a mixed blessing.

Tarah becomes an interactable and romanceable NPC during and after the events of this side quest, which is available after completing Harboring a Fugitive and beating Alissa in the Palace of Ice. See Saving Tarah.

After the events of Saving Tarah, Tarah can be found any time on Kavi's tile on the northern edge of the village, where she lives on the second floor of the converted Belharan scoutpost, above the shop and her mother's quarters.

The following options become available. Note that the options depend on whether the Champion chose the romantic or platonic route during Saving Tarah:

When asked about her collection of god statuettes, Tarah excitedly tugs the Champion upstairs to show them off. She explains that she gets one whenever a trader comes through town, and that she loves seeing the different representations of the gods, especially those that don't look quite like people. She shows the Champion an orb-like Lumia (a harpy too full of eggs to fly), Velun as a mountain-man, a flying-fish Sorra, a serpent with a book for a hood depicting Nareva, a glass orb representing Keros, a candle with a tiny torch-bearing Tira inside, and another Lumia...holding a goose.

The Champion asks about the fish-Sorra in particular, and Tarah says the trader said the flying fish depicted can travel "a bajillion hundred feet" when the wind catches their fins, which she thought was neat. Tarah tells the Champion more about her other favorites, surprised by how much the mare remembers about each of the little trinkets, and enjoying their new-found religious knowledge. After about an hour, they return downstairs with Tarah, and give her a kiss before heading out.

The Champion asks Tarah if she'd be okay with a pet name. After explaining the idea to her, Tarah's fully on board, and the Champion can enter a term of affection to use for Tarah into a text box, akin to selecting a child's name. The name is used in scenes with Tarah thereafter.

If the Champion enters "Tarah," the mare in question laughs at the Champion--that's just her name! Another term must be selected to return to the game menu.

After a pet name has been selected, Tarah says she doesn't think she could remember one, so she'll just keep calling the Champion by their name.

The Champion can change Tarah's pet name at any time. Once one is selected, the Champion cannot return to calling Tarah by her name.

To access cuddling with Tarah, the Champion must have chosen It's Me during Saving Tarah.

The Champion tells Tarah their energy is low, and the only thing that will recharge them is cuddles. Tarah and the Champion head upstairs to lay down together in her bed, kissing, cuddling, and enjoying the warmth and closeness. Eventually, Tarah falls asleep for about an hour; when she wakes up again, she and the Champion trade kisses and laughter again before heading back downstairs.

After a sound like two people breaking the sound barrier, the two find themselves on Savarra's moon, with the planet hanging above them. After identifying various countries and nations, Tarah proposes a cheese date! Since the moon is made of cheese. She's disappointed by the taste of moon rock, but thankfully, the Champion has a 75 pound wheel of Belharan mild cheddar they can share. And a blanket. Tarah and the Champion engage in cheese-eating and planet-watching until they run out of cheese, and return home with a pop, their hands clasped and foreheads pressed together. Did it really happen? That's for the Champion to decide.
