Vesparans are a race of humanoid wasps native to the world of Savarra. Similarly to the Mothfolk, these insectoids favor the human element of their appearance, having forms that are mostly human with some insect traits. A colony inhabits the Old Forest north of Hawkethorne; similarly to the marefolk of Harvest Valley, these vesparans were originally on peaceful terms with their neighbors in the town, but after the coming of the demon Kasyrra and her corruption of the forest through its resident Alraunes, the vesparans became more aggressive and began sexually assaulting travelers in their territory.

Social Structure

Like the wasps they superficially resemble, vesparans live in colonies consisting of a single female Queen and large numbers of male Drones and female Workers, all of whom are the Queen's biological offspring. They harvest sap and nectar from the forest around them, creating honey and wax for their own personal use. Excess material is traded with neighboring settlements, such as Hawkethorne, in exchange for goods that they cannot acquire or produce themselves.

Reproduction

During the events of Corruption of Champions II, vesparans are shown reproducing in a fashion similar to the wasps they resemble - although far less gruesomely. It is presumed that this is a side-effect of the Corruption that has accumulated in their systems from the tainted vegetation in the Old Forest.

Vesparans begin life as an egg gestated in the womb of a vesparan queen. Using a prehensile, phallic ovipositor, she inserts these eggs into an orifice in the abdomens of her mature daughters. The egg-laden workers then seek out individuals of the other races and attempt to entice or coerce them into agreeing to being oviposited themselves. When this happens, the worker uses her own ovipositor to penetrate the anus of her chosen "incubator" and lays her load of eggs into their stomach through an act emulating anal sex. The incubator carries the eggs for a period of 60 days and then expels them harmlessly in much the same way they were inserted. By this point, the larval vesparans have finished gestation and the eggs hatch, with the vesparan nymphs quickly gaining the ability to fly, which they use to return to the colony of their queen-mother by tracking her pheromones.

Due to this reproduction method, vesparans can successfully "impregnate" individuals of any gender. A side effect of a vesparan "pregnancy" is that the host begins lactating honey.

One major flaw with reproduction amongst corrupted vesparans is that, due to the Corruption's trait of increasing an individual's own focus on selfish pleasures, egg-laden workers who lack the dominant sexual position are easily enticed into non-reproductive sex, as their desire for release in the face of their heightened libido outweighs their dedication to breeding.
