Rimescore is sentient, but it lacks a sense of being. It seeks to express its elemental nature and to perpetuate the same frost which it has been infused with centuries ago. On its own, the crystal is no different than a motionless elemental. However, if one were to embrace its power, it would become a parasite, merging itself with its user; two would become one in body and mind alike. We have witnessed this transformation in its current host, Asgeir.

The Scholar to the Champion, during the events of Howling in the Dark

Description

This crystalline sword radiates with magical, frozen energy.

Special Effect: Allows the use of Cone of Cold.

Special Effect

Allows the Champion to equip and use the Encounter power, Cone of Cold. The item is not needed for the Champion to use the power.

Acquisition

Currently not an item the Champion can obtain.

The item in this state is unobtainable, however, deciding to Keep the Rimescore during the events of Howling in the Dark has it shaped into one of its three forms: Polar Edge, Glacial Spike, or Hoarfrost.

Alternatively, if Drifa is present in the party, it can be given to her, which changes her combat behavior; from a Level 5 White Mage to a Level 7 Black Mage equipped with the Rimescore itself and some additional changes. It can also be given to Cait, which upgrades most of her companion sets by upgrading her Staff and Rimebound Grimoire.

It should be noted that keeping the shaped Rimescore raises Corruption by (+30)(until 75) . Giving it to Drifa will raise her corruption to 70, but giving it to Cait does not.
