About halfway through the crossing, a horrific whine tears through the air, and the Champion ducks into the water to avoid a bolt of twisted pink energy. From across the river, multiple black-clad figures armed with staves and bows emerge from bushes, and at the head of the group is a thick-set human with a sinuous tail. Upon arriving at the river and attempting to ford it, Champions with the Soldier or Hunter background will note the danger of fording the open stretch of waist-deep water as it will leave them very exposed during the crossing, however, nothing can be done about it.
