Kaede is a shy young freighter captain Captain Steele meets through their mutual lover, Anno Dorna. While her appearance in Trials in Tainted Space is thus far just a cameo, she stars in a series of short stories and a comic set in the same universe as TiTS.
Appearance
A red-haired girl with perky wolf-ears is leaning over the counter, a fluffy red tail swishing just under her black leather jacket. She smiles shyly at you, giving a little wave. You note that her hands lack the familiar fur-coating of a full-blooded ausar -- a halfbreed, maybe?
"Kaede Entara," the half-ausar says, extending a hand. "I'm Anno's-"
"Girlfriend," Anno finishes, reaching over the counter to wrap her arms around Kaede's shoulders.
History/Personality/Information of Note
Kaede is an introverted young woman who's currently employed as an independent cargo hauler aboard her ship, Talon Rogue. Originally male, she transisted to female shortly after entering adulthood -- although retained her ausar penis, and a preference towards female lovers. She was raised by a single parent, Tavros's chief mechanic Zeke Entara, with little involvement from her mother, Amara Faell -- who, unbeknownst to her, is a Black Void pirate. She attended Ausaril Tech, a prestigious university on the ausar homeworld, at the same time that Anno Dorna was working as a graduate assistant there. The two became lovers shortly after Anno started tutoring her, though the relationship came to an end after a little less than two years when Kaede was forced to drop out due to financial restraints. They've since gotten back together after a few years apart, shortly before Captain Steele met them. (See The gene stealer for the event of how that happened)
She may also have been part of the Ausarilian Gravball team "The Jackals" at some point. (Although it may have actually been the chess team, since the information comes from a second hand source)
Kaede's revealed to be a crack pilot during her adventures, able to push an outdated CassTech Lancer freighter to outmaneuver and eventually destroy a heavily armed pirate ship. (See Talon rogue)
She was childhood friends with Cass, the kaithrit protagonist of The Treatment story, before the eponymous drug escalated their relationship into a sexual one. Kaede also has had multiple run-ins with the famous kui-tan pirate Kiro Tamahime, always ending in very messy sex.
Interactions
Initial meeting
Once Steele has had sex with Anno at least once, Steele can walk in on Kaede meeting with Anno at either; the shop on Tarkus if Anno has not been recruited, or in Anon’s Bar and Board on Tavros once Anno has been recruited. During this meeting, Anno will invite Steele for a threesome. This encounter can happen if again if at least 7 days have passed since the last threesome.
Extrameet
When on Tavros Steele may find Kaede's Extrameet profile, Steele can then Swipe Right on her profile and (assuming they have met, fucked Kaede and have genitals) go on a date with her.
During the first of these Extrameet dates, Steele and Kaede go to Ilaria Bunny’s Buns & Confectionary with some variations for Steele's current relationship with Ilaria (Has children with her, or fucking her, or not met). Once approached Kaede and Steele engage in some small talk, before Kaede asks if Steele wants to go for some drinks. If Steele accepts they can talk to Kaede for a bit before, finishing up. Once done with their drinks and talks Steele has the option to flirt, or say goodbye. With the latter option potentially having a special talk scene with Shade. Whilst the former leads to sex.
New Texas
Once Steele has done the threesome with Anno, they can encounter Kaede on a stroll with Cass and their child Kayla just as they are passing by New Texas's "Iced Teats" shop. After a short conversation with the adults and meeting their daughter, Cass will ask if Steele is here for business or pleasure? Once answered Steele will inquire about the story of how Kaede became a parent, which Kaede offers if they go back to her ship. Resulting in Kaede telling Steele about how sexually ravenous Cass is before telling the story of how she got Cass pregnant, followed by her falling asleep and leaving in the morning. Alternatively, if Steele has genitals they can ask to meet Cass resulting in Steele fucking Cass, and potentially having Kaede join in.
Uveto
If Steele has done either the New Texas or Myrellion encounter and has approached the lift down to Uveto's surface, they can meet Kaede on Uveto after leaving their ship. Kaede will after some short talking offer to buy Steele some lunch. If declined the encounter can happen again after a week has passed. If accepted Steele can talk to her, and tease her a bit (for an increase of 5 in Kaede's exhibitionism and a personality shift of 3 to mischievous). Steele is then asked to join Kaede on her ship for some fun times. If Steele refuses after they teased Kaede they get another personality shift of 5 to mischievous.
Once Steele has gotten lunch with Kaede, and is in a sexual relationship with Anyxine, they can find Kaede next to Anyxinne's office. Steele can then offer to Introduce' the freighter captain to Anyxine resulting in a threesome. Afterward (or if Steele didn't introduce/take Kaede to Anyxine) if at least 3 days have passed Kaede can appear next to the office again allowing for another threesome.
Canadia
If Steele has done the New Texas encounter, they can find Kaede sitting in Canadia Station's bar. When approached Kaede will explain why she is here, and can be talked to for a bit before being called down to Vesparia before any sex happens. And having her disappear for 12 hours.
The next time Steele approaches Kaede in Canadia's bar a 14-day timer will start after which she will leave Canadia for good. During these 14 days Steele can ask for a status update (telling Steele how long Kaede will still be here), touch her fluffy tail, or Get a room for sexy times. And Kaede possibly appearing in Del(ilah)'s Canadian Public Use, and making use of the gloryhole.
When Steele approaches Kaede after the timer has run out, she will inform the captain that her friend couldn't help her with her V.I.'s issues, with Steele's reaction depending on if they finished Kara Quest or not. After this conversation, Kaede leaves the planet and space station permanently.
