And is he in the habit of making offers to people?

The Trickster gives you a wolfish grin. "To people great and small, high and low. An equitable exchange, oftentimes just made to see how they'll react, discover what they value. I am, after all, infamous for being the one of the Seven most inclined to have dealings with everyday people, am I not?"

Keros is the God of Trickery and one of The Seven. He is closely tied to The Old Country and the Kitsune, who are said to be descended from him and his twelve concubines. Keros is a playful and mischievous deity, but can also be unbelievably cruel when he deems it appropriate. Very mercurial, he is jovial one second and cold as ice the next. Keros keeps a close eye on the colonials in the Kurokawa Kitsune Den and you can draw his attention by performing tasks that aid his people in establishing a power base in the Frost Marches.

"Keros is the trickster, the god of deception and illusion and mysteries. He's perhaps the most feared of the gods by mortal folks like you and I, but also the one that intervenes among us most. If you pray to the sly fox, he might just answer your prayers — so word them carefully, lest you get exactly what you wished for! His folk are the kitsune, and he is patron of thieves, charlatans, and gamblers."
Brother Sanders

Appearance

The speed at which it happens is shocking — there's no fading in, no transmutation of stone to flesh. One moment the likeness of the Living God is in the recess, a cold statue, the next he's rolling his limbs and stepping down by the altar's side, giving Miko's ass a hefty swat with one hand while the other picks up a huge, juicy peach from the altar.

"Don't stand on ceremony, Komari." Many-colored robes sweep dramatically across the plinth in its recess as Keros steps off and eyes the den matron. He tosses the peach into the air, swats it with one of his nine tails, and it arcs through the air to land perfectly in Mai's hands. "I came as soon as you requested my presence. Can't have my favorite servant all huffy and out of sorts, can I?"

He's saying the words — and your mind swears that he did, but your ears swear with equal vehemence that nothing of the sort passed them.

The colors on his clothing, they continuously shift and swirl against a backdrop of white, not moving when you're looking at them but very clearly having changed when you turn your gaze away and back again. His eyes dart from Komari to you, and then the Trickster's smile widens.

Interactions

Freeing Kiyoko

Once you've cleared Den of Foxes and Meet and Greet, you will have the Freeing Kiyoko option available in Komari's menu. She will summon Keros to turn your Amulet of Union into a fox-family. If it's still an Amulet of Transference, he will ask you to please accede to Kiyoko's request to fill her with chi so he has the material he needs to forge a new body for her. And to grow a penis if need be to complete the task.

When you're ready to begin, he will take the orb and bring Kiyoko, Kinu, and any other kits into the real world. However, in their pocket dimension, ten years have passed since they last saw you. As per the Law of Equitable Exchange, he was giving you something truly precious by bringing your family into the world. As such you needed to give something precious back, like a decade with your family. However, Keros is kind enough to partially restore Kiyoko's old home seemingly free of charge.

Receiving Keros's Offer

Keros will come see you again if you make yourself useful supporting his people. Once you've attempted Artifice Testing, he will appear to you in the gardens and make you an offer. A number of forces, many of them malevolent, want your soul. What if he were to take it and keep it safe for you? Forever? And in return you would get to be one of his chosen people and his Champion, with all the benefits of such.

First, he explains the metaphysics of the Kitsune soul. All kitsune are technically soulless, husks that draw from the communal soul rather than possessing their own. This strengthens them in some regards, while also costing them some individuality. Keros likens it to a cup full of water; were you to tip the water out, it is still a cup, all the freer for being unburdened. He will fashion you a decoy soul to boot so all the interactions don't have to be rewritten the various forces trying to claim your soul don't realise what's happened.

However, you only get to take the offer once. Other members of The Seven will doubtless be interested in making you an offer for your soul as well. If you pledge to him you will be barred from taking their offers, same as if you pledge to them he will not be available to you in that way.

Bind

Before you confirm, there is a bolded warning that this process will irreversibly transform you into a Kitsune, you will never be able to transform yourself away from being a kitsune

If you accept Keros's offer, he will be delighted. Depending on the time of day, either of Miko and Mai or both will be present to assist in the process. First, he will emphasise how every kitsune you've met and know, including Kiyoko if present, is dead inside. They are without an individual soul, and as many a theologian would tell you are demons or monsters incapable of empathy or love. But since you've chosen to take his offer and join their ranks, you clearly know better don't you?

With that, he rips your soul out of your body, tucks it under his coat, and it's gone forever.

Either Kiyoko or the attending shrine maidens are quickly by your side, holding you steady as Keros rearranges you in his image. You are given some options for how you want your new kitsune form to look. You will also have a number of tails equal to your level minus one, and you will quickly discover that having your head or tails petted now feels extraordinarily good.

  • Eye Colours: Red, Blue, Green, Brown, Black, Gold
  • Hair/Fur Colours: White, Grey, Orange, Blonde, Red, Black, Brown
  • Skin Colours: Pale, Bronze, Dark

And then he's done. There are a bunch more things you need to know about kitsune society or being his Champion, but Keros feels it would be funnier watching you figure it out for yourself.

Reincarnate

You can have Keros effectively re-do your transformation, choosing different eye, hair/fur, and skin colours this time.

Sex

If you choose the Petition option, you can have some private time with the deity. Tooltips vary depending on whether you've taken Keros's offer to become his Champion.

  • Spanking: You've been a very bad champion, and dishonoured his name by your actions. Clearly, this needs some kind of punishment. (if Kitsune, otherwise: You've been a very bad [pc.race], and have come here for repentance and absolution from a god himself. Who better to ask, after all?)
  • Copulate: Beg your patron deity to help you put out your heat. (if Kitsune, otherwise: Beg the deity to help put out your heat. Need to be in Heat, otherwise: You can't have lots of heat sex when you're not in heat, silly.)
  • Lap Fuck: Have a seat and share your woes with your patron deity. (if Kitsune, otherwise: Have a seat and share your woes with a literal god.)
  • Vanilla: Sometimes, the familiar is all you need.
  • Threesome: Two is too lonely, the more the merrier. And let's be frank, there's someone just outside who would like nothing better than to join in the fun.
  • Headpats: (need to be a Kitsune, otherwise: This isn't going to have much meaning for you if you're not one of his own. You need a certain anatomy with certain erogenous zones for this to make any sense... and let's face it, you don't make the cut in your current form.)
