Different packs of feral wolves roam the Old Forest and are generally a nuisance to Hawkethorne. The townsfolk of Hawkethorne had initially blamed the wolves and harpies for the growing number of disappearances in the surrounding regions, until the appearance of the Demon Cult. The lingering corruption of Kasyrra seems to have agitated with wolves, making when more feral and hostile.

I'd rather we not have to hurt any poor doggos, but I don't think we can get anywhere in the forest without crossing through their territory. That's a shame... I hate when anything hurts animals, but especially when it's me!

Appearance

You're fighting a pack of feral wolves. Each one of them seems more mangy and beat-up than the last, with patches of missing fur, dirt caking their mane, and old scars and wounds covering their bodies. They circle your party as they snarl and nash their teeth, foaming at the mouth and seeming as hungry and desperate as any animal. Armed with nothing but their gods-given defenses and weapons, they're more than capable of biting, clawing, and tackling wayward travelers like you into submission. No doubt these beasts have blood on their minds.

Interactions

Encounters

While not the first direct encounter, the Champion will first encounter feral wolves when stepping into the Old Forest, and encountering Brint, who is being hounded by a pack of corrupted wolves.

The first direct encounter will have the Champion travel through the Old Forest, when they are met with a faint noise; a distant guttural sound. The Champion holds their position, focusing on the source of the sound, the source starts to near, revealing it to be wolves. The aggressive animals snarl and howl, showing no sign of slowing down, the Champion readies for a fight. There is no difference in first and repeated encounters.

The number of wolves present is dependent on the party size of the Champion, at a base there will always be 3, but if the Champion's party has at least 3 members, an additional wolf will appear.

Being defeated by the wolves will result in the loss of one Camping Supplies or Trail Rations if present in the Champion's inventory.

During the events of Dog Days, when searching for Westbank, if the Champion lacks the Hunter background, they will face three waves of enemies, with the first being the wolves.

  • When Silly Mode is enabled, the Wolves' headshots are replaced by the Dorna Twins from Trials in Tainted Space
    • Additionally, if Cait is present in the party, her headshot will also change for the duration of the fight.
