"Oh, that." Nakano's brow furrows a moment as he considers how to best get this across. "It's something that our local artificer has shown interest in. I suppose the task would be something suited to someone like you, and be a good start if you desired to ingratiate yourself with the den."

Quest States

State Acquisition Description
0 Talk to Nakano about Metal Relic Interested by new and exciting possibilities in the field of metallurgy — for them, anyway — the kitsune have asked you to see if you can't find a strange metal relic. To be precise, it's the broken hilt of a weapon last seen in the possession of Svern, the junkrat accompanying Gianna's wandering caravan. Since you know these folks already, finding them shouldn't be too hard. Once you've retrieved this one way or another, deliver the goods to Kohaku, who will make sure they go where they need to be.

Alternatively, since the material to be studied is metal infused with ley-crystal, if you have any items that fit the bill you could give that away instead and skip this entire business altogether.

1 Obtain hilt from Svern Now that you've managed to get Svern to cough up the antique weapon hilt in his possession, you should get it to Kohaku posthaste. She'll put it away safely until it can get where it needs to be.
2 (complete) Turn in hilt to Kohaku Having handed over the weapon hilt over to Kohaku, you've learned that the colonies are hoping to attract a skilled metalworker over to this side of the ocean with a major discovery, and this whole milk run has been part of that. Hopefully, your actions here will have been enough to tip the scales enough for something good to happen — guess you'll find out sooner or later!
3 (complete) Turn in Spiraled Blade or Spiraled Staff to Kohaku Instead of running out and finding that caravan, you've elected to instead hand over the spiraled weapon you found in Matiha's tower; that should work better for their research purposes than a centuries-old broken hilt. It's not like you were using it anyway, and it's better that you give it to someone who can use and appreciate its value instead of just selling or tossing it.

In addition, you've learned that the colonies are hoping to attract a skilled metalworker over to this side of the ocean with a major discovery, and this whole business has been part of that. Hopefully, your actions here will have been enough to tip the scales enough for something good to happen — guess you'll find out sooner or later!

Acquisition

Talk to Nakano about Missions and then select Metal Relic to receive this quest. Nakano will explain how Kohaku traded with Gianna's caravan but neglected to trade for a weapon hilt that Kazuo later expressed interest in, and how they've been unable to find the caravan since to purchase it.

Progress

Hilt

To obtain the hilt, you need to arrange a trade with Svern. Once you encounter the caravan and ask Svern about the relic he will give you a number of options to purchase it.

  • Pay: Pay the junkrat his asking price of 2000 EC. (requires 2000 EC)
  • Sex: You wouldn't have imagined that a fuck from you would be worth two thousand hawks, but if that's the price Svern's asking for, then you're more than willing to pay.
    • Blowjob: Blow Svern nice and easy. Sucking cock - well, there're worse things, aren't there?
    • Catch Vaginal: Let the junkrat fuck your pussy good. Not very creative, but certainly reliable. (requires vagina)
  • Cait: Solve your problem by rubbing a pink kitten on this mouse. (requires Cait in active party)
    • Yeah: Sure, a cat and mouse threesome sounds fun.
    • Nah: You're fine with Cait letting her do her thing.
  • Pale Ale: Present Svern with the pupper pale ale. (requires Pupper Pale Ale in inventory)
  • Never Mind: You'll take a moment to consider your options.

However you choose to go about it, the result will be the same and you receive the relic. Return to Kohaku and turn it in, and she will be very grateful for your assistance.

Spiraled Weapon

Alternatively, if you received the Spiraled Blade or Spiraled Staff from The Mistress, you can give that to Kohaku instead. This will lead to you losing the item. She will be agog at receiving an actual functioning ley crystal infused weapon and be very grateful.

Reward

Nothing concrete comes out of this, but it is said that what you've done could be tremendously helpful for the colony (especially if you sacrificed a Spiraled Blade or Staff in the quest for magiscientific experimentation).
