Mare's Barley is a consumable transformative item. Consuming a dose produces a random transformation towards a Marefolk. This item has a corrupted counterpart, the Twisted Reed.

When asked about Males, in regards to the Marefolk, Kavi explains that when a male reaches puberty, they are given a choice; to take the mare's barley (by grow in the same way women do, while keeping their virility and minds clear) or be exiled due to madness that occurs when male marefolk reach puberty or soon after.

Description

A handful of golden brown barley grass. While normally used as an ingredient of the marefolks secret feminizing drugs, many mares chew it or brew it into tea for the taste alone.
