"I'm Ivris, alchemist extraordinaire! I sell all sorts of potions, or raw reagents if you know anything about alchemy — you're welcome to use my lab if you want to do a little cooking. Uh, so to speak."

Ivris is Hawkethorne's local alchemist extraordinaire, and she runs a shop across Leroah's Huntress's Shop. She is a Wyld Elf and her wyld mark is her elk-like antlers that grow from the sides of her head, seemingly made of twisting brown tree-bark. Despite being blind, Ivris can move around her shop with grace and ease, although the reason for her blindness has not been explained yet. She made a potion to help Gwyn lactate for her eight pups and with the help of Brother Sanders, reattached Leorah's torn leg after she got injured by a wyvern. Ivris is also responsible for making the plain golden ring that Brint/Brienne gives the Champion during the festive season.

"I'm going to be honest, I've never really known what to think of Ivris. She certainly seems polite, but her ability to see and all the alchemy stuff really throws me off."
Nelia
"In particular, I've recently started doing favors around town! I particularly like working with Garth and Ivris! I can get some nice food and a good drink for pulling a cart every once in a while, or get some refills on better quality-lube!"
Sugo

Appearance

The woman, the shop's owner you presume, is positively prancing through the place, going from burner to burner stirring pots and tipping carefully-measured ingredients into cauldrons. A bright pink skirt flutters around her knees, and metal-toed boots clatter noisily on the polished wood floor as she bounds from work to work, humming a jaunty tune as she goes. Your eyes are instantly drawn to her "mark of the wyld," the mutation all wyld elves bear: in her case, a pair of huge elk-like antlers grow from the sides of her head, seemingly made of twisting brown tree-bark. Small leaves grow from the tips of the branches, adding a touch of green to her otherwise flaming red outfit. It's only a moment later that you finally notice the thick, pink cloth wrapped around the elf's eyes.

Interactions

Entering Ivris' shop for the first time will acknowledge her new customer and she will skid uncomfortably close to the Champion, as she will curl her nose and purse her lips, as a few moments later, she will be able to determine their race and gender. She introduces herself, and the following options will be available as they get down to business:

  • Shop - Check out what the elf's selling.
  • Reagents - Take a peek at the alchemical reagents Ivris has in stock.
  • Training - Ivris knows plenty about magic, you wager. Maybe she could teach you a few things...
  • Alchemy? - Ask the elf girl to tell you a little about alchemy, and how to brew your own concoctions.
  • Alchemy - (requires Alchemy?)
  • Alchemist Kit - See if Ivris can put together a version of her alchemical laboratory to-go. You'd guess one might cost 200 EC. (requires Alchemy? and 200 EC)

Alchemy & Reagents

Asking about Alchemy? will have her give a lesson on how alchemy and brewing a potion works:

"It's actually really easy! Stodgy old wizards will always tell you it's this big deal, but really the only complicated part is finding what things work with what, and what they do when you mix them together. Otherwise it's not that different from cooking. A potion's just like a bowl of stew, and needs just as much love and creativity poured into it. Except potions can make you explode, or turn your skin into scales."

She demonstrates the process of making a potion by brewing a Sweet Cream-Infused Bovum Sherry.

After her lesson, the Champion may use her equipment to brew up a potion of their own, and they may also purchase from her an Alchemist Kit, which will allow them to brew up potions at their camp. They may also purchase from her Reagents for their own uses.

Training

Due to Ivris' knowledge on magic, she can offer the following training options to the Champion:

Name Function Cost
Attributes Re-assign the Attribute points you gained from levelling up. You can't re-assign the points you started with at Level 1, nor any temporary points. Costs 300 Electrum Coins and a day of training time. 300 EC
Learn Power Train any Black Mage talent that you are high enough level to use. Costs 100 Electrum Coins per level of the talent, and will take up the rest of your day. 100 EC
Change Class Change your class to Black Mage, a magic-focused offense class. Switching classes does not transfer or unlock new Talents, though it will give you the perks of your new class up to your current level. You would be well-advised to have the coin to buy additional talents afterwards. Switching classes costs 3,000 Electrum Coins, and will take one full week of time. 3000 EC
